Soccer riot

This is awful, people! Just awful!

Thanks to reckless soccer hooligans in Egypt last night, at least 73 people are dead (1,000 injured) after a riot broke out at a game between two rival teams.

Ahly, a powerhouse club from Cairo, was visiting the town of Port Said and suffered a rare loss and was immediately swarmed by hometown fans. The team and fans ran for cover in the locker rooms, but unfortunately the bloodshed couldn't be escaped. Ahly coach Ahmed Nagui painted a gruesome picture of the riot when he said the locker room "looks like a morgue."

ER Concussion Admissions On The Rise In Young Athletes

Football concussions

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released a report indicating emergency room visits are on the rise for kids with sports and recreation-related brain injuries, like concussions.

Nearly 250,000 children were taken to the ER with concussions and other brain injuries in 2009, compared to just 150,000 in 2002!

At first glance, this looks awful. What's the deal here? Are sports becoming rougher and tougher?

Nope!

According to Dr. Julie Gilchrist, a pediatrician at the CDC and lead author of the study, parents and coaches are just becoming smarter:

Tom Brady Voted #1 NFL Player Of 2011

Tom Brady number one

The season hasn't even started yet (if it even does), but the football community has already picked Tom Brady as 2011's best player.

In the last installment of NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2011, a ten part series finishing on Sunday night, NFL players and coaches picked the New England Patriots' quarterback as this year's best player in the game.

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who presented the segment, shared these kind words about Brady:

"He's not the biggest, he was never the strongest, he was never the fastest. So with that being said, all the intangibles a quarterback is supposed to have, they overlooked with him, because it was burning from the inside of him."

Congrats on the honor, Tom! We wish you the best of luck in the 2011-2012 season and are crossing our fingers there is actually a 2011-2012 season for you to play in!

This Summer…The Voice Is Going On Tour!

the voice going on tour this summer

Wonder if Groupon will sell tickets for this tour as well…

This summer, NBC's The Voice will go on tour in a show featuring the eight finalists, who are as follows:

Beverly McClellan, Vicci Martinez, Dia Frampton, Javier Colon, Nakia, Xenia, Casey Weston and Frenchie Davis.

Unfortunately, the show's coaches will NOT join the group on tour because they weren't being offered enough $$$!

Such a shame! Obvi this tour would be WAY more appealing if fans knew they'd see Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and co. perform.

Here's what Blake Shelton tweeted about the tour:

Kevin Federline Coaches Son At Little Game

Aww, cute!

K-Fed was spotted cheering on his song Sean Preston at his little league game in Los Angeles yesterday.

His team is called the Westhill Yankees.

Sean looks really athletic — Kevin, not so much. Take a couple laps around that field, K-Fed!

Adam Levine And Cee-Lo Green In Talks For NBC's The Voice! And Possibly Xtina too!

adam levine and cee lo green for nbcs the voice

Back in December we learned that Mark Burnett is developing a singing competition series The Voice for NBC, which is based on the top-rated series from the Netherlands, The Voice of Holland.

Burnett and NBC are currently in talks with Cee-Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine to join as judges.

There's also SOME talk that Christina Aguilera could be joining the show as well…but that should just be considered a rumor at this point. Inneresting rumor though…

NBC is hoping to close deals with Green and Levine this week, and then they'll sign on Xtina another judge next week.

As we mentioned before, The Voice's format consists of four coaches who listen to, but don't watch singers, and if they like the singer, they push a button that sends them to the next round, to be claimed as one of their "students."

If the singer is liked by more than one judge/coach, the singer is allowed to choose which one will coach them, and then coaches will have teams go head-to-head against each other.

This sounds pretty cool…and we'd STILL love to join the show as a judge/coach. Ha!

Are U excited for this show? Would U like to see Cee-Lo Green and Adam Levine as judges?
