England's Rules On Churning Out Souvenirs For Royal Wedding

Many people are looking to capitalize on the engagement and marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton, but if you want to create your own souvenir, you must follow a set of guidelines issued by the Lord Chamberlain’s office.

Although reproductions are generally banned, the rules have been relaxed after approval from Prince William.

The commemorative item must be “in good taste” and cannot advertise any other product. Manufacturers can use the phrase, “To Commemorate the Marriage of Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton, 29th April 2011.”

All pictures of William and Kate must be approved, but the Prince’s Coat of Arms has been banned for use on containers and packaging. There is also a detailed list of what may be turned into a commemorative item. Tea-towels, aprons and t-shirts are not allowed, but carpets, cushions, wall hangings and head scarves are acceptable.

Also suitable are mugs, plates, trays and commemorative coins.

But companies better move fast! Production must stop on all items by October of next year.
