Costa Concordia Survivors Being Offered $14,400 Each In Compensation

Filed under: Icky Icky PooLegal Matters

costa concordia passengers to receive compensation

Sounds like they're gonna have to up that amount if they're trying to avoid lawsuits!

To recap - earlier this month, we heard the VERY upsetting news that a cruise ship carrying 4,000+ people ran aground off the coast of Italy.

Then we heard that the ship's captain Francesco Schettino was being held in jail for abandoning ship…and were disgusted to hear that the despicable man was trying to claim that he ACCIDENTALLY abandoned the ship! Boo!

Now, we've learned that Costa Cruises is offering survivors of the cruise ship disaster a lump sum of $14,400 (11,000 euros) each in compensation, which is meant to cover the following:

Uh-oh! Things are getting ugly behind the scenes!

Michael Novick, a producer on Glee, has filed a lawsuit against Ian Brennan which claims that the series co-creator didn't honor an agreement they made during the series' initial development!

According to Novick, he and Brennan developed the concept for the series originally as a movie. They brought the project to Ryan Murphy, who thought that it would work better as a TV show, and pitched the idea to Fox. When negotiations stalled, Brennan reportedly then

MORE Chezza/X Factor Drama!

x-factor-usa-does-not-want-to-pay-cheryl-cole

We had a feeling that this was going to get ugly.

Although many assumed that Cheryl Cole would immediately return to England after her abrupt firing as a judge on the US version of The X Factor, she and the show's producers are apparently in a nasty stand-off - because they don't want to pay her for her position, despite her moving across the world and even buying a home here in El Lay!

A source with the production company, Freemantle, has flat-out denied that the singer's been fired, and in order to avoid breaching her contract, they've made arrangements for her to meet with the U.S. consulate in London to apply for a visa.

Meanwhile, sources in Cheryl's camp claim that she plans to do just that, because she intends to be compensated “as a matter of principle. … She moved her whole life to Los Angeles. He [Simon Cowell] thinks he can move people around like chess pieces.”

We can't say we blame her! We wouldn't want to have moved to a foreign country with the expectations of a job, only to be told that it wasn't working out and we weren't going to get paid!

Shady shady shady!

Here's hoping that they can reach some sort of amicable resolution, though at this point we seriously doubt that's going to happen!

What do U think?? Should Chezza get paid/remain on the judges panel??

Guess WHY Jenna Jameson Is Getting Sued…

jenna jameson getting sued

We'll give you a clue - it was for a VERY good cause!

Give up???? Okay, here it is!

Jenna Jameson is being sued by the owners of the Hollywood Palms Cinema in Naperville and Woodbridge, Il for faking sick and skipping appearances so she could attend the b-day party of….PEREZ HILTON! Ha!

The theater owners claim that Jenna refused to reschedule, and that they spent thousands of $$$ promoting her appearance.

According to the suit, the theaters were set to make "tens of thousands" of dollars on the event. They claim that Jenna sent them a "vague doctor's note," but then they found out the truth when pics surfaced on the Internet from Perez's Blue Ball.

Here's what the cinema owners are seeking from Jenna:

"[Compensation as] a result of breach, including, but not limited to: advertising costs; expenses paid for travel and/or accommodations; employee hours spent preparing for the events; lost profits from both the events as well as from the inability to show regular films that would have been scheduled if not for (Massoli’s) planned appearance; and damage to Hollywood (Palms Cinema’s) reputation among its customers and members of the press who showed up for the canceled events."

We're certainly sorry to hear that, but we can't say we 100% blame you Jenna! LOLz!

Do U think Jenna deserves to get sued for bailing on appearances to attend the Perezzer's birthday party?

Ashton Making About Half Of What Charlie Was For Men!

ashton-kutcher-making-less-than-charlie-sheen-on-two-and-a-half-men

Well Chuck Lorre must be pretty pleased with himself!

He gets to keep his show - AND isn't shelling out nearly as many dollah dollah bills as he was last year!

Now that Ashton Kutcher has officially signed on to succeed Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men, the big question on everyone's minds is: will he receiving the same level of compensation as the troubled warlock?

Well, apparently, not by a long shot!

Sources close to the production have revealed that while Sheen made about $1.25 million - the much publicized $2 million was from profit participation - an episode, Kutcher will be paid somewhere in between $625,000 and $900,000!

Wow! They pretty much cut that salary right in half, didn't they?

Still - that's quite the pretty penny, especially for Kutcher! We can't imagine he's complaining!

It will be very inneresting to see how his new character is introduced - and received by audiences?

What do U think?? Are U looking forward to Ashton on the show??

Cheryl Cole Returning To U.K. X Factor!

Filed under: Simon CowellCheryl ColeX FactorReality TV

cheryl-cole-to-stay-on-uk-factor-with-raise

Not a bad fall back, if we do say so ourselves!

Although Simon Cowell was unable to land Cheryl Cole a judging position on the American version of The X Factor, he's reportedly softened the blow by signing a new contract for her position on the UK edition of the series - as well as a $1.38 million pay raise, making her compensation now around $2.77 million!

A source close to production explains:

"Cheryl is thrilled about the new deal. She thought her days on the UK X Factor were behind her but the money is too good to refuse. This is Simon's way of making it up to Cheryl for not landing her the US X Factor gig. He's handing her a €2million dream pay day. She was convinced Simon had pulled all the strings to get her on the judging panel but it's been a disaster. Now Cheryl will make twice the money she was on last year. Simon has told her he's going to look after her and he has a lot of surprises in store for this year's show. He's going to shake things up dramatically and make some big changes. He wants the new format to be much edgier and Cheryl will play a major role in that. She's going to be returning with a bang and with Simon no longer appearing on the show he's banking on Cheryl to stir things up."

Wowza! That's way more than fair if you ask us!

She still gets to keep her job, and makes double what she did before - and with a potentially expanded role!

We would LOVE to see our Chezza break into the US mainstream, but we think that ultimately this will be for the best! We didn't think that the UK X Factor viewers wanted to have to say good-bye to her, anyway!

What do U think?? Are U excited Chezza is coming back to UK's X Factor??

Charlie DEMANDS The Rest Of His Two And A Half Men Money For Canceled Episodes

charlie sheen wants compensation for canceled two and a half men episodes

CBS, Warner Bros, and Chuck Lorre are already in the hole with delusional Charlie Sheen for over $320 million, so maybe they should just pay him this as well!

Earlier today, we learned that Charlie is planning on suing CBS, WB, and Lorre for $320 million for "mental anguish."

Now, Charlie has had lawyer Marty Singer send WB and CBS a letter demanding that Sheen be compensated approximately $16 million for this season's eight canceled episodes of Two and a Half Men.

Apparently, Charlie may ALSO have Singer send the same letter to Two and a Half Men's Chuck Lorre.

Wonder who else Charlie Sheen can sue for unrealistic amounts of money…

How about HBO for providing him with "mental anguish" after claiming that Sheen's Corner isn't happening??? He could probably squeeze a solid $145 million from them!

Do U think Charlie should be compensated for this season's canceled Two and a Half Men episodes?
