Panda-Dogs Are The New Thing In China

GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!

We are totes loving this look!

Dyeing pets has been a trend in pet pampering for quite some time. At last summer's Pets Show Taipei, there was a fierce dog-dyeing competition.

But dyeing your pets to look like other wild animals is a more recent development.

The trend demonstrates how quickly and dramatically attitudes toward pets — particularly dogs — have changed in many parts of Asia.

In Taiwan, just 10 years ago, dogs were still eaten in public restaurants and raised on farms for that purpose. Traditional Chinese medicine held that so-called "fragrant meat" from dogs could fortify one's health. Now, eating dog is viewed by many as an embarrassing reminder of a poorer time.

Newly wealthy Chinese have embraced dog-owning culture with a vengeance.

Dogs are brought into restaurants, fussed over in public, dressed up in ridiculous outfits and dyed to look like ferocious tigers.

Yoda Wins World's Ugliest Dog!

ugly dog

Congrats!!!

Yoda, a 14-year-old Chinese Crested Chihuahua from Hanford, Ca, has won the dubious accolade of being crowned the World's Ugliest Dog Friday night amongst stiff competition.

With her one eye, sparse tufty hair and protruding tongue Yoda managed to wow the judges at the annual Sonoma-Marin Fair, beating out last year's winner, a one-eyed Chihuahua called Princess Abby, a hairless little Chihuahua called Handsome Hector with a tongue to match Yoda's inch for inch, a one-eyed pug and several other unfortunate looking, but clearly loved, little pooches.

But, Yoda's story very nearly didn't have the happy ending that it has as owner Terry Schumacher revealed she found her abandoned and scared out in an alley.

Terry says at first glance she thought Yoda was a rat. LOL!

Stressed Show Horses May Spread Herpes

stressed Show Horses May Spread Herpes

Be careful Camilla!

According to animal health experts equine herpes (a highly contagious infection among horses that can be fatal) may spread when stressed out show horses come together for competitions.

That appears to have helped fuel the current equine herpes outbreak, which has killed at least 12 horses and sickened 72 others in 10 states so far. These states include Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Philip Johnson, a professor of equine internal medicine at the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine stated:

"Most adult horses are infected with the virus."

GROSS! The prof went on to say:

"Like most herpes viruses — human and animal — infection leads to a life-long association between the virus and the host. In most healthy horses most of the time, the host's immune system prevents the virus from going active and being especially contagious."

Still gross.

Bunny Jumping Is A Swedish Sport

Um… really?

Bunny Jumping (aka Kaninhop) involves bunnies bouncing their way around courses consisting of several small jumps of varying height and length.

Over the past few decades to sport has spread far from its Scandinavian homeland and clubs have now sprung up in several other European countries, Canada, Japan and now here in the US (why?)!

Rules vary from country to country, but generally the more jumps a rabbit clears the higher its score. There is also sometimes a time element to competitions.

As well as the dressage-style courses, there are also long-jump and high-jump challenges.

The world height record is 99.5cm while the best distance is full a three meters.

Is that impressive? Idk what an average rabbit jump is!
