Jack White composing Lone Ranger score

The upcoming Lone Ranger remake starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp just got infinitely cooler.

Executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that he's selected none other than Jack White to score film!

The former White Stripes singer will write, produce and perform all of the original music that is featured and the producers are excited to hear what he comes up with, as Bruckheimer said:

We think Elton John wants another shot at the Oscars!

The singer's production company, Rocket Pictures, is in the process of reupping on their Disney hit, Gnomeo & Juliet.

This time, they need the help of famous Gnome detective, Sherlock Gnomes!

Titled Gnomeo & Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes, the gnome gang will find themselves wrapped in mystery when some of garden figurines go missing.

Unfortunately, Sherlock Gnomes is no Sherlock Holmes!

Elton will compose new music for the flick and he also has the animated flick, Nerds, and his biopic in the works.

Looks like 2012 will be busy for Elton!

MORE New Tunes From Imogen Heap!

As you may or may not know, Imogen Heap has been hard at work on a brand new concept album since March, which samples 900 everyday sounds sent in by fans, and with one new track from it released every three months!

Well, for whatever reason, the singer has dropped TWO new tracks from the project that pretty much couldn't be more aesthetically different from each another, but are both equally FANTASTIC!

Check out the music video for Minds Without Fear, which is a collaboration with Indian composer Vishal Shekhar, as well as the other new single, Neglected Space (above)!

So innovative, right?

She seriously is one of the most creatively fearless musicians out there, while all the while still managing to put so many layers of heart and emotion into her material!

We love these! How about U??

Trent Reznor Talks Music, Acting, And The Return Of Nine Inch Nails!

trent-reznor-says-that-nine-inch-nails-is-not-over

Amazing!

As much as we've LOVED his soundtrack work, we're thrilled that we'll have more Nine Inch Nails soon!

Trent Reznor recently took his blog to discuss his work on the score of David Fincher's The Social Network and now The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, his return to NIN, and most surprisingly of all, his CAMEO in the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter!

He writes:

What a surreal week, capping of an equally surreal few months! Thank you all for the support and kind words throughout. I need to once again point out the reason that score worked so well was David Fincher. We were simply executing his vision and it was an honor and an eduction working with him. Which brings me to:

The Girl WIth the Dragon Tattoo. Atticus and I are hard at work scoring David's next film, which will be opening this Christmas. We've been composing quite a bit of music for this and have just begun to see some of what's been shot. Trust me when I say this film (and of course the music!) will not disappoint.

Perhaps I misspoke on the red carpet or wherever it was I said the new How To Destroy Angels record is finished - it is not. We've been working since last summer on it and are due to mix it this summer for a fall release. We've spent a lot of time experimenting and finding our own sound and identity this time around and we're very happy with the results. The three columns of things I'm currently funneling music into - HTDA, NIN and film work - I believe will start to make more sense to you (and me) as everything unfolds. By having a few different outlets for my work I'm finding more inspiration within each one. No, Nine Inch Nails is not dead and I plan to focus on that next.

And finally, I am friends with Timur Bekmambetov. He's an interesting and very talented director that caught my attention with his film Night Watch (check it out if you haven't). He asked me if I was interested in scoring his new film he's doing with Tim Burton entitled "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". I was familiar with the book, read the script and it felt like an interesting challenge as a composer - very different from the Fincher films. While discussing the film with Timur he started gently pressing me to play a small role in the film.

The idea was a cameo-esque role that would be kept under wraps and be a surprise around opening night. I was considering this when I awoke a few days ago to the news I am now STARRING in ALVH (which is obviously not true). Fuck. We both apparently forgot the internet existed AND THERE ARE NO SURPRISES anymore.

So… do me a favor and act surprised, OK?

Holy shiz!

A new album, a new score AND a small role?! We can't wait to see what it entails!

There's certainly quite a bit to look forward to!

Keep up the good work, Trent!

Thoughts??

Yet Another Reason To Love Matt Bomer!

Good lord, he truly is the total package, isn't he?!

Check out the incredibly SEKSI - and apparently multi-talented - Matt Boner Bomer performing the classic song It Only Takes A Moment from Hello, Dolly with Kelli O'Hara, as part of a tribute to composer Jerry Herman at the Kennedy Center Honors (above)!

Swoon just doesn't even do him justice anymore!

It's more like MELT! And lick!

Slumdog Millionare Composer's Tour Postponed After Lighting Accident!

wenn5289822jb.jpg

So frightening! And very Phantom of the Opera!

A.R. Rahman, the Bollywood film composer behind the Oscar-winning soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire, was involved in a serious accident on Saturday on his A.R. Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour in Detroit!

Apparently, the Pontiac Silverdome was not strong enough to support some of the concert's light structures, and one broke free and crashed onto the stage!

Rahman says:

"It’s a miracle my team escaped with minor injuries."

Seriously! Absolutely insane!

Rahman has rescheduled the remaining tour dates for September.

We're relieved that no one was seriously injured! This could have been much, much worse!

Update: Reps for the Silverdome are stressing that the unfortunate issue had nothing to do with the Silverdome's infrastructure, but rather with the rig Rahman's team had set up. We're just glad no one was seriously hurt.
