The Miner Movie Is Being Made!

Chilean Miner Movie

Remember when we watched the rescue of 33 Chilean miners after they endured 69 days of being trapped underground?

Well producer Mike Medavoy was so touched by the story, he went after the story rights and succeeded.

The pen behind Motorcycle Diaries, Jose Rivera, will adapt the movie, which is set to begin production sometime next year.

Medavoy seems super excited about this:

Justin Bieber Visits Kids In Japan, Tells Them It Will Get Better

justin bieber visits kids in japan to show support

The Biebs continues to impress us with his involvement in Japan!

Earlier this month, we were VERY pleased to learn that Justin Bieber was going to continue his Japan tour, despite his crew reportedly flat-out refusing to participate out of fear of nuclear radiation and future earthquakes.

Now, Justin is leaving a positive mark on Japan in another way - by visiting Japanese children and reassuring them that things will be all right.

Here's what he said to a group of Japanese children, many of whom were affected by the March 11 tsunami:

"Things can get better and things will get better. There are only good times to come."

And here's what one child said to Justin, reading from a card that the group wrote to him:

"We have friends who lost their family and their homes, some have left our school. The town is covered with wreckage and it will take a long time to get back to normal. But we will work hard for this. Please give us courage through your music."

Truly heartwarming! We think it's wonderful that Justin took the time to meet with these children and show them support, especially since they clearly look up to him so much!

Thanks for being an inspiration, Justin! We're very impressed!

Cheryl Burke Reveals That She Was A Victim Of Sexual Abuse

Filed under: Icky Icky PooSad SadReality TV

cheryl-burke-reveals-that-she-was-a-victim-of-sexual-abuse

What a poor thing. Nobody should have to go through something this awful and scarring, let alone at such a young age.

Dancing With The Stars castmember Cheryl Burke recently revealed that during her childhood, she was the victim of sexual abuse at the hands of a retired mailman who would help out with repairs around her house, and sometimes even pick her up from school.

The man was later sent to prison for 20 years after he attempted to assault her stepsister, and Burke was forced to testify against him in court - and at the age of six!

She explains:

"It was lots of touching. He would pull my pants down in his van or he would touch me in the living room while [her caregiver] Ima was in the kitchen cooking. That was the scariest moment of my life. I felt disgusted with myself for the longest time. I knew what he did was wrong, but I wanted this older man's affection. It creeps me out. My worst nightmare is to run into him. Not until he dies will I be able not to worry."

It makes us sick to think of what horrible things people are capable of doing, and to children!

And it's normal to feel responsible or even confused about your feelings were toward him, but we're glad that you realize now that what that man gave you was NOT affection. He took advantage of and violated a little girl, and we are so proud of you for being able to come above all of the trauma that you endured and be as successful as you are!

So brave of you to speak out about this - we're sure it's still very difficult.

Hopefully your courage will inspire other victims to speak out against their abusers, or at least seek out the help they need to come to terms with what has happened to them.

Stay strong.

Inspiring High School Senior Comes Out To Her Peers During Assembly!

Words cannot do justice to just how awesome this girl is.

Check out this truly inspirational speech from a High School senior named Kayla K., who bravely and articulately announced that she is a lesbian to her classmates during an assembly in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

We cannot imagine how difficult this must have been for her, which is why her courage and conviction needs to not only be applauded, but also shared with as many people as possible!

These words not only need to be heard, but understood and ACCEPTED, because it's the fact-of-the-matter truth in every single way!

Bravo, bb! The LGBT community is lucky to have you.

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!!

Michael Douglas Reveals Son Has Special Needs

michaeldouglase.jpg

Between his courage while battling throat cancer and his dedication to his family, Michael Douglas is really an inspiration these days!

Douglas moved his family from Bermuda to New York City for his son Dylan's special needs.

Here's what he's had to say about the move:

"One of our kids has some special needs and it was recommended he go to a special school in the New York area."

No specific word on Dylan's needs, but we respect the thought and care that Douglas is devoting to his family.

Here's more from Douglas on family life:

"What I worry about is trying to maintain the family unit with all these outside influences on them. The internet, for example; there aren't borders anymore. You look at the sites on the internet."

And more from Douglas:

"How do you, with all your abilities, maintain a family unit for as long as you can with just your values? You want your kids to have those values. They're watching us, which is important. My kids can see what we do, and they're pretty comfortable in that."

And Douglas on "absolute happiness":

"For me, it is to wake up my kids in the morning - these little pieces of innocence - to wake them and find they're so happy to see me! It is unequivocal love, no question about it. And oh God, is that rare!"

All very nice stuff, Michael.

We wish you and your family all the best in New York!
