Eva Mendes Needs Her Guard Dog

Eva Mendes

Beware of Hugo!

Eva Mendes has been keeping her loyal dog, Hugo, close since a crazed fan turned up on her doorstep last month.

The Other Guys star who was spotted walking with Hugo again Friday, recently obtained a restraining order against a man who, according to her filing, falsely believes that he has a relationship with the actress and thinks she is 'willing to die for him.'

Poor Eva says this man has been harassing her for the past three years with both notes and audio recordings.

The actress clearly feels safer with Hugo, her Belgian Malinois, by her side, who she has described as 'a really sweet attack dog.'

Hugo has protected Mendes in the past, most dramatically against a coyote that was crossing the road in front of her car and the giant hound tried to jump through the windscreen of her Lexus to attack it.

Holy Coyote!

Authorities rescued a coyote from freezing water

Sorry, we meant Holly the coyote!

Firemen in Chicago have named a coyote Holly after rescuing her from below freezing water as she drifted on a floating piece of ice in Lake Michigan.

Firefighters got the call at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning and pulled the shivering wild animal out of the water about a quarter mile from shore.

There isn't any word on the condition of the coyote, but we hope Holly is okay.

Do U think they named her Holly because of the HOLLYDAYS?!

Sorry, we couldn't help ourselves, but we're so happy that the city took the time to save this animals life!

Pet Owners Should Watch Out For Coyotes!

coyote

Coyotes have been known to hurt or even worse kill pets and even sometimes young children.

Carol Cartaino wrote a book called Myths & Truths About Coyotes, which explains a lot about these animals.

It turns out that coyotes are in fact in every state except Hawaii…so don't think it is not possible for a coyote sighting!!

One of the interesting sections of this book is about how to keep coyotes out of your yard, which is where pets often get snatched from.

She explains that you should make sure to clean up food and around bird feeders, because that is what draws rodents and coyotes are often close behind.

Also, if you have a compost put a gate around it to prevent coyotes digging for food and be sure to enclose your yard if you plan to let your pets or young children play in it.

If you want to know more about sneaky coyotes, check out the book!

The Chupacabra Explained!

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & True

chupacabra may just be mangy coyote

The stories of the Chupacabra, a mythical monster that sucks blood from livestock, may actually have some kind of explanation.

All of the "chupacabras" that have actually been found, that gave them a reality, have turned out to be coyotes suffering from severe cases of mange. Mange is a disease that can cause the animals' hair to fall out and skin to shrivel.

If these monsters are in fact just mangy coyotes, the 'bloodsucker" myth, of the chupacabra killing of livestock makes sense.

Many scientists are satisfied with the realization that the chupacabra is just a coyote, however some may still be looking into it.

New creatures are constnatly being discovered so we can really never know for sure!!

Pennsylvania May Use Coyotes To Control Deer

Coyote vs. Deer for environmental purpises

This is an intriguing concept.

An animal-rights group that opposes the use of hunters to cut the deer population in Valley Forge National Historical Park wants officials to consider using coyotes instead.

The group wants Pennsylvania to not rely on guns in the upcoming season, but rather nature to restore balance to the deer population.

Park officials tell The Philadelphia Inquirer the proposal wouldn't work. They say the number of deer has to be cut from an estimated 1,277 to about 175 in the next four years.

Thats a whole lot of dear to get rid of!

Coyotes certainly wouldn't bring the population of deer down to 15, but it'd help cleanse and balance the environment.

We're curious to see if this works. It's the sustainable way of controlling a population . We're always down for sustainability!!!
