Princess Bride Star Cary Elwes Sued For Deadbeat Borrowing!

We've heard of Robin Hood stealing from the rich to give to the poor, but borrowing from the creditors to buy antique furniture is news to us!!

OK, so we don't know precisely how aging actor Cary Elwes racked up almost $40K in credit card debt, but online antiquing is as good a guess as any!

Wells Fargo asked Cary to begin repaying the years-old debt back in 2010, but, according to the paperwork filed in an El Lay Superior court, he only forked over two-thousand before going rogue once again.

It's a sad irony that the man made famous by repeating his catch phrase "as you wish" in the cult-classic Princess Bride is being sued after failing to comply with a credit card company's reasonable demands.

An early court hearing is scheduled for March of next year.

More People Are Shopping With Credit Cards

credit-card-spending-rose-during-black-friday.jpg

Not only did Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) see a spike in sales (both at the stores and online) but credit card usage went up as well.

On Black Friday, purchases made by credit card were up 7.4% from the previous year.

It's a good thing that people are spending money and helping the economy, but not so good that they're doing it with credit.

Though even more surprising is an estimate made by Javelin Strategy & Research that forecasts credit card payments for online purchases will go up 63% by 2016 with just a 2% increase for debit cards.

Daniel Craig's Ex Racked Up $1 Million In Credit Card Charges

Filed under: Icky Icky PooDaniel Craig

That's a HUGE amount!! What a ballsy move!

When Daniel Craig dumped his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell and began dating Rachel Weisz, Satsuki was apparently so angry that he broke things off with her, that she found an interesting way to get revenge.

She didn't go so crazy as to do something like boil his pet bunny rabbit, but she DID rack up about $1 million in charges on HIS credit cards, which for some reason, she had permission to use.

A source explains what happened:

The End Is Near…For Credit Cards

the end is near for credit cards

Hopefully you like those smart phones, because by the end of the year, you'll probably be using them instead of credit cards.

Here's what Michael Abbott, the CEO of mobile payment network Isis had to say about the new technology:

"Your plastic card hasn't changed since the age of the vinyl records. This is the chance to bring payments forward from the plastic age and the vinyl records age to the digital age."

More on the subject from Mercator Advisory Group's director of emerging technologies George Peabody:

"Mobile payment is going to get really interesting and is going to see a lot of activity in 2011. We're going to start seeing more and more people leaving their homes without their wallets."

And more from Edgar Dunn & Co. consulting firm director Jane Cloninger:

"I definitely believe that the mobile wallet will eventually replace the plastic card — but it's going to take some time because consumer habits take a long time to change. But where before it's been a lot of discussion, we're at the point now where you're going to start seeing momentum toward it and going to see it move beyond the trials and into reality."

And here's what Bank of America's senior vp of online and mobile banking Michael Upton had to say about it:

"2011 is going to be a very exciting, very dynamic year when it comes to mobile payments because it's the Wild West again, with all these players positioning in various different ways to redefine the digital payments landscape."

But will this technology stop at mobile payments? More from Isis' Michael Abbott:

"[Payment] is where we're going to start, but where it goes is wide open to the innovation of other players who want to be involved."

We def don't mind using our credit cards, but it'll be inneresting to see if they do in fact start to fade away by the end of the year.

Team credit cards or Team mobile payments?

Yikes!

Foxy Brown's brother Gavin Marchand was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury this morning in a credit card scheme that resulting in taking $8,000 from the Hermes store in New York City.

He faces up to 15 years in prison after getting busted last week trying to purchase merchandise with a fake MasterCard. Three co-defendants were also charged with trying to pay with fake credit cards as well.

A street unit cop discovered the crime and the 4 defendants led the police on a 90 mph chase until finally surrendering!

Coincidentally, he had the same judge today that handled Foxy's 2007 assault case.

Breaking the law must run in the family!
