Rolling Stone Writer Live Tweets While Listening To Femme Fatale!

rolling-stone-writer-will-hermes-live-tweets-while-listening-to-britney-spears-femme-fatale

Oh boy! This is pretty HIGHlarious - and also pretty insightful!

Rolling Stone writer Will Hermes sat down yesterday to review Britney Spears' new album, Femme Fatale, after just one listen, but was kind enough to share his immediate thoughts and opinions during the session LIVE via Twitter!

Here's what followed:

Listening to new Britney LP at an undisclosed location. Having an MDMA flashback. #FrenchFilterHouseHasTakenOverTheWorld

Credits for "How I Roll" lists 4 names for "vocal production." #NewBritney #AutoTuneIsAGenre

Dr. Luke + Max Martin dropping a dubstep break on "Seal It With A Kiss." I love it when the avant-garde seeps into the mainstream. #IThink

These listening sessions would be better if conducted in a dark room with a disco ball and a qt of Patron. #NewBritney

Cher understood that vocal processing = eternal youth. #NewBritney

Ai yai yai - dunno what made the Britney massive think I was hating earlier. Not true. Untwist yr panties. #OKMaybeALittle #NewBritney

Can't review properly on just one listen - unfair.

BUT I will say it's got some of the most spectacular Luke & Max productions I've heard. #NewBritney

And I'm curious what Britney fans will think of the vocal processing, which I think is often fking brilliant but EXTREME #CyborgDiva

I hear you. "Criminal" sounds almost like she's addressing herself.

Lyric that made me laugh out loud, approvingly: "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" #AllPurposeAnthems #Britney

Lyric that made me laugh out louder "Big Fat Bass" #WithItOrAtIt #NotSure #Britney

Fave song on first pass is "How I Roll" #Britney

Not talking vocal effects as pitch correction or T-Pain/Kanye horny robot coos, but as kaleidoscopic phoneme collage. #Britney

w/bonus tracks, I counted 35 co-songwriters on new Britney record. (She isn't one of them.) #SongwriterSavingsAccountsForKidsCollegeTuition

Here's a teaser bite of "How I Roll" Dr. Luke posted. This is what I'm talking about: http://bit.ly/dTB27d #GirlInTheMachine #Britney

Wowza!

Although we think that most of his jabs at our gurl were done playfully, and he DOES seem to be on board of with the crazy vocal processing, we're not sure we are!

It definitely sounds as though they went overboard with it!

Hopefully it will work with whatever aesthetic they're ultimately going for, but we're not sure we're feeling it!

Thoughts??

Bristol Palin Responds To Kathy Griffin's Teasing - Again!

Bristol And Kathy But Heads Again

Kathy Griffin loves to hate the whole Palin clan.

But Kath's most recent Palin jab went straight to Bristol's waist.

When the comic called the oldest Palin daughter "the white Precious," and said she gained 30 pounds in one week, Bristol wasn't laughing.

"It didn't [hurt her feelings] because it was coming from Kathy Griffin of all people, and I think it just shows her immaturity. I don't think that stuff's funny at all. Just very strange. And it's weird, also, that she would pick on my weight. She's had botched liposuction procedures and stuff like that, so…It's just weird that she would pick on something like that for another woman."

Bristol has commented on Kathy's set before, saying,

"The audience's reaction to this 'comedian' spoke volumes, and the decent people I know would probably have booed her, too. I hope people didn't have to pay money to hear her negativity and criticisms."

Griffin doesn't seem to care - she already promised to offend another Palin family member this year.

Another Lauryn Hill Show PANNED By Critics!

lauryn-hill-toronto-show-panned-by-critics

It's so difficult to hear about so many disappointed fans, especially after they've been looking forward to this comeback for SO long!

Lauryn Hill gave another performance this past Saturday in Toronto - as part of her recent North American Tour - and unfortunately, it sounds as though its audience was once again baffled by her displays of what's being described as "arrogance" and "self-indulgence!"

While one critic revealed that she didn't keep her audience waiting nearly as late as she did as some recent shows - she began her performance only an hour late - and that she appeared "healthy, energetic, clear-eyed" as well as "flashing that brilliant smile, laughing and saying 'How you been?' and 'Long time no see,'" the singer had re-worked so many of her classics that they were unrecognizable, and ultimately ostracized her fans!

They explain:

Much loved tunes like “Lost Ones,” “Ex-Factor” and “When It Hurts So Bad” were so unrecognizable it didn’t feel like I’d listened to that record at least once a week for the last 13 years.

Between the screaming guitars and new basslines, the frenetic pace of the songs and your reconstructed phrasing, the tunes melded indistinctly into one another. As you said, you wrote these songs a when you were much younger. Perhaps the meanings have changed for you, but don’t you think you could’ve let us know you’d also adopted an alternative rock outlook?

It wouldn’t have been so bad if the DJ that preceded you onstage had not amped the attendees with reggae and hip-hop instead of, say, more suitable Coldplay and Rage Against the Machine.

I get that artists should be allowed to evolve.

However, they usually do that by making new music, hopefully garnering new listeners if the old ones don’t embrace it.

We’re too polite to boo you, like they did in Atlanta, but didn’t you notice after awhile that no one was grooving, how the cheers and applause had dwindled and that only a few camera phones were lit up? Could you see the perplexed looks?

Even ever-evolving Prince has never disrespected his fans with a nostalgia tour devoid of nostalgia.

I hope this tour is a way to prove to yourself or your record label that you can still draw a crowd; that it’s the prelude to an album of brand new songs — sonically constructed however you wish — that document those life-altering sacrifices.

Because the alternative, that this was a meaningless exercise or simple money grab, would be even more disappointing, a trick that fewer of us will fall for next time.

Wow.

It sounds as though they weren't just disappointed by her new sound, but they were OFFENDED, and almost felt cheated by it - which we can personally understand!

Keep in mind that although this tour is about you, bb, it's also about your FANS, who have patiently waited for your return for a long time!

We're thrilled that your sound has evolved, but by showcasing that evolution in classic songs for an audience of expectant fans is almost kind of an "Eff You" to them!

It may not be how you meant it, but that's how it comes off!

We still have faith in you, bb! But you might want to re-think your next show!

Thoughts??

Ballerina Defends Weight

ballerina-defends-weight

The ballet community has been up in arms over the controversial remarks New York Times critic made about Jenifer Ringer’s weight in her Nutcracker performance. And now, Ringer has come out and plainly stated her position: “I am not overweight.”

She acknowledged that as a dancer she puts herself out their to be scrutinized, but that she firmly believes she isn’t overweight. Although she did admit that the comments he made did sting.

Said Ringer:

“It made me feel bad. It is embarrassing to see something bad written about yourself in print. I had to tell myself that was one person’s opinion out of 2,000 people who were there. The outpouring of people who leapt to my defense was wonderful.”

Ringer opened up about how difficult it is to work in a field where your body is constantly scrutinized:

“It is a field where our bodies are important. As dancers, we are taught to try to be perfect in every way. I was 16 when I became a professional. I don’t think I was prepared to cope with being in an adult performing world. I think my coping mechanisms turned into eating disorders and body-image issues.”

We sympathize with Ringer and admire her attitude about the situation. She picked a tough career and is handling with supreme grace!!

Michael Bolton Thinks DWTS Judge "Should Search His Soul"

michael-bolton-bruno-tolioni-apologize.jpg

Aw, come on, Michael Bolton! Lighten up!

The singer is still singing the bitter blues after Dancing with the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli gave him a "mean-spirited" critique the night he was voted off the dancing competition show.

Michael says he has asked for a public apology after Bruno called his routine "the worst jive in 11 seasons" and said he did it "very, very, very badly."

Although he has yet to receive an apology, Michael says he won't ask twice, adding:

"I don't wish to pressure the show … I don't blame them. Nor do I wish ABC to put any pressure on him. I think it's a personal epiphany [Bruno] may have to have/ I asked for it in one interview and I felt he should express a public apology to me. I think asking once is enough, and I don't want my friends, fans and supporters to ask for it. It is what it is."

The show's producers have defended their judge, saying he was only doing his job and he gave an honest opinion about Michael's dance routine.

Michael says he enjoyed his time on the show and praises the cast and crew saying, "The producers and the people who work for them are phenomenal at making you feel as comfortable as possible," however he does have one thing to say to Bruno:

"Bruno should search his soul for what he is doing on that show."

WAAH! WAAH! No one likes a crybaby, Michael!! Just move on and be thankful you even got the chance to be on the show.

Mad Men Producer Pissed About The New York Times For Publishing Spoilers!

Filed under: Icky Icky PooTV News

00033872jb.jpg

Ouch! He is NOT happy, and rightfully so!

The upcoming, much-anticipated season of Mad Men is almost upon is, and series creator Matthew Weiner, who is notorious about keeping the story under wraps until it airs, is livid about a New York Times article by Alessandra Stanley that reveals quite a few spoilers for what's to come!

He says:

“I was shocked – really shocked. I would love to have it known that this was done totally without my approval. Ninety-nine percent of the reporters who wrote about the show did not write about the story. A lot of people told me they were blindsided by (the Stanley article). You’d think the New York Times wouldn’t have to scoop me. It’s bittersweet when you don’t get to have the experience of seeing the show as it was meant to be seen. In some ways, it ruins the show. I’m kind of powerless. It’s the bargain you make: I wanted to have press, and it was nice to get that kind of space with those pictures. The alternative is not to share these things with the press any more – but how can you expect journalists to write about the show if you don’t? It was all very disappointing to me.”

Lame!

It's too bad that his request for spoiler-free previews was not honored by everyone!

So if you don't want to know what happens, stay away from The New York Times, folks!

What do U think?? Should The New York Times have published that article??
