We wonder if this is true!

We've been hearing a lot about CTE recently — chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the brain disease caused by repeated blows to the head in athletes like football players — and now Cuba Gooding Jr. has made some inneresting comments about it and O.J. Simpson.

This is still such a shock to us — and as we learn more about investigators' findings, it may be a shock to them, too.

BMX legend Dave Mirra apparently committed suicide on Thursday, and now authorities in Greenville, North Carolina where he made his home believe there may be a specific reason the extreme sports star took his life.

The city's mayor, Allen Thomas, noted in a press conference that while authorities are still gathering facts, he fears Mirra may have had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or as it's better known, CTE.

If you've heard those initials before, it's likely because of football.

Former hockey player Derek Boogaard died in 2011 from an accidental overdose of painkillers and alcohol, and now his family is filing a wrongful death lawsuit againt the NHL.

An autopsy revealed that the late New York Ranger suffered from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) at the time of his death, which is caused by taking multiple blows to the head and suffering from concussions throughout his career.

The family's attorney William Gibbs claims the trauma caused Derek to become addicted to his pain medication, saying:

Junior Seau's Family Suing The NFL Over His Suicide!

Remember the sad story of Junior Seau?

He was the former NFL player who recently killed himself.

It turned out that he was suffering from a degenerative brain disease, called CTE, that lead to depression and most likely his eventual suicide.

Now, the Seau family is suing the NFL!

Ugh! So sad!

An autopsy has revealed that Derek Boogaard, a New York Ranger hockey player who died accidentally after mixing alcohol and oxycodone, suffered from degenerative brain disease Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).

Not only was Boogaard known as one of the most aggressive players in the NHL, but his season had been cut short five months before his death when he suffered a major concussion.

CTE can only be diagnosed through studying the brain after death and has been linked to athletes who regularly received repeated head trauma throughout their career.

An autopsy also revealed
