BET Awards Announce Their Own Prince Tribute After Trashing Madonna's — And This One Will Be The Most Personal Yet!

no title

Pretty much every artist under the sun has performed a moving tribute to Prince since his tragic death in April.

And while BET didn't seem to think much of Madonna's tribute at the Billboard Music Awards, the cable network is taking matters for honoring The Purple One in its own hands!

BET Networks announced the late music legend will be honored at the 2016 BET Awards with a special live performance by Sheila E., The Roots, D'Angelo, Janelle Monae, and more!

This news comes on the heels of the network trashing Madge's May performance — which featured a surprise appearance by Stevie Wonder — insinuating the tribute was underwhelming in a pretty shady tweet.

In a since-deleted video, BET ran a short teaser of the Material Girl's performance, writing "Yeah, we saw that. Don't worry. We Got You."

But apparently, they DO got us — because Sheila E.'s involvement will easily make this the most personal Prince tribute yet!

The network also announced Alicia Keys and Maxwell, along with more stars, will also be performing at this year's award show.

Do U think BET's Prince tribute will live up to the hype? Watch the performance when the 2016 BET Awards airs on June 26 at 8 p.m. ET on BET!

Maya Rudolph & D'Angelo Pay Tribute To Prince On The Tonight Show! Watch Them Poignantly Perform Sometimes It Snows In April!

no title

As we're still mourning the tragic death of Prince last week, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon continues to pay tribute to the music legend with heartfelt performances.

On Tuesday's show, D'Angelo took the stage with Prince cover band Princess – made up of Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum — for an emotional performance of Sometimes It Snows in April.

With the entire stage draped in purple lighting, D'Angelo played the keyboard as Rudolph and Lieberum sang the backup harmonies on the 1986 track.
