Barbra Streisand, Madonna And Others Pay Tribute To Elizabeth Taylor

The passing of Elizabeth Taylor is being felt by everyone, especially in the Hollywood community. Several celebs, especially those who knew her best, have released statements to honor their friend and collegue.

One such star is Barbra Streisand, who this morning expressed her sadness over losing the legend and great humanitarian. Barbra wrote:

"It's the end of an era. It wasn't just her beauty or her stardom. It was her humanitarianism. She put a face on HIV/AIDS. She was funny. She was generous. She made her life count."

What a great sentiment…"She made her life count."

Other celebrities have shared their thoughts on the passing of Liz and what she meant to them. Here are some of their thoughts:

Madonna: "I am so sorry to hear that this great legend has passed. I admired and respected her not only as an actress but for her amazing and inspiring work as an AIDS activist. She was one of a kind."

Julie Andrews: "Liz was a dear friend. She was a great legendary lady of Hollywood and she will be mourned worldwide."

Shirley MacLaine: "I don't know what was more impressive – her magnitude as a star or her magnitude as a friend Her talent for friendship was unmatched. I will miss her for the rest of my life and beyond."

John Travolta: "Elizabeth was the definition of greatness on all fronts. I loved her. She will be incredibly missed."

Barry Manilow: "She was the last great movie star and one of my closest friends … What I'll always remember about Elizabeth was her laugh. She would walk in looking like a princess, and out of her mouth would come this cackling laugh that would crack all of us up."

Such lovely thoughts. We bet she felt the same of all of you, her caring , devoted friends.

No Birthday Celebration For Dame Julie Andrews

Oh bollocks!

A tribute to Dame Julie Andrews' 75th birthday that was scheduled to air on BBC television has been scrapped after producers claim that Andrews demanded money for her appearance.

According to sources, producers were "shocked" and "assumed, perhaps naively, that she would be honored to take part for free."

Andrew's agent and manager Steve Sauer deny the reports that she asked to get paid, saying:

"We have heard rumblings of the desire to do a tribute. There have been no direct conversations about it. As such, no fee was ever requested. Whoever 'told' you that a big fee was demanded is being untruthful."

In the meantime, BBC has decided to cancel the birthday tribute all together, which will surely make many Julie Andrews fans very sad.

We say, pay her whatever she want$!! The woman is a legend!

Dame Julie Andrews Takes To The Stage Again!

A legend has returned!

London was on its feet last night as Dame Julie Andrews took the stage for the first time in 30 years to perform at the O2 Arena.

The concert was titled The Gift of Music and featured Julie serenading the audience with tunes from Rodgers and Hammerstein, reading from her book and showcasing younger Broadway stars singing her classic tunes for Sound of Music and others.

Though accompanied by the amazing Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and a group of exceptional singers, Julie warned her audience that her voice had changed since her vocal chord surgery in 1997, so she is unable to belt out the tunes like she used to.

Wouldn't have mattered to us! The chance to see a great talent like hers is once in a lifetime!

We bet it was an outstanding show regardless!
