George Clooney recently discussed his disappointment in himself for ‘failing’ to accomplish more in the campaign to save Darfur, which has been a depressed haven for mass genocide since 2003.
Clooney has been trying to raise awareness of the tragedies in Darfur for some time, and even went so far to meet privately with Barack Obama in 2009 to discuss the “Be A Voice For Darfur” idea, which was intended to push the White House into action.
He talked about his troubles with the campaign in an interview:
"I've been honoured to be able to lend my celebrity to help wherever I can, especially on behalf of the United Nations. But in the case of Darfur, it's been the greatest failure of my life. With other people, we've been able to get a lot of attention focused on the terrible situation there and nothing has changed. It's very frustrating."
While what’s happened in Darfur is deeply saddening, the fact that things haven’t improved certainly is NOT George’s fault. The responsibilty of saving a nation does not rest on one person!

What an honor! And a well-deserved one, too!
George Clooney will be presented with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award by The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at this year's Emmy Awards!
Clooney, who organized a telethon for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and has brought awareness to the genocide in Darfur, is the fourth recipient of the honor, following in the footsteps of The Big O, Bill Cosby, and the late Danny Thomas!
Congratulations are in order!
Keep up the good work, bb!
