Two police officers have reportedly been shot in Ferguson, Mo. following the resignation of Police Chief Thomas Jackson.
Protesters gathered outside of the Ferguson Police Department on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning as the latest chapter in the shooting death of Michael Brown unfolded.
While the resignation won't be put into effect until March 19, acting Police Chief Lt. Col. Al Eickhoff said that the shots had been fired from across the street from the station and that it was unknown which jurisdiction the two injured officers were from, but it is believed they are from St. Louis County.
Thomas Jackson chose to resign after a federal Justice Department report found that while Darren Wilson won't face charges, the Ferguson Department itself was guilty of faulty policing.
The two officers were reportedly taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
We will update you as we learn more about the situation, and we just hope that everyone in the area stays safe!
