The Foo Fighters are done performing and recording for "a while." But not forever!
Dave Grohl made the announcement during his band's set at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, but has since confirmed with a heartfelt letter to fans on Facebook.
After thanking them "for another incredible year", the band's frontman went on to write that he's not sure when they will play another show together, but he knows they will. According to Grohl, "it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world."
Rock music is gonna miss these guys, but at least some other bands will have a shot at winning a Grammy now.

They were and then they weren't, but now they definitely are.
Dave Grohl has just confirmed that yes, the Foo Fighters are taking a well-deserved break.
He hinted at the hiatus this summer during England's Reading Festival, but confirmed the news in front of American fans at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park last Saturday.
Before performing Learn To Fly during their last tour stop (above), Grohl grabbed the mic to say:

OH ok, well that's cucumber cool! We are always down for more Foo in our lives!
Yesterday, we reported that at Sunday's Reading Festival, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl implied the band's epic set at the famed event would be their last for "a while"…
Which, to Dave, only means a few weeks!
Apparently, the seminal rock group are playing the

Just for a little while! Not forever… right you generation-defining rockers?!
The Foo Fighters played two seemingly EPIC back to back shows this weekend at England's famed Reading/Leeds festivals, and during their Sunday performance at Reading, Foo Fighter frontman Dave Grohl bid adieu to the spotlight!
Dave shared with his many exuberant fans:

Words seriously cannot describe the epic awesomeness!!
There's amazing. There's beyond amazing. And miles and miles past that, there's this dude's Call Me Maybe video (above) that you absolutely must look at RIGHT NOW!!
When an alien race stumbles upon our dead planet two billion years from now, we hope the first two artifacts of our civilization they find are the CN Tower — because it looks like a giant penis! — and this ridiculously perfect Carly Rae Jepsen tribute!
Ahhhh…. Our life is now complete.

The world is a little colder now that Kristen Wiig will no longer grace the stage of SNL every week. Sure, she'll probably come back to host every now and then, but it's just not the same.
Good thing her finale party was such a BASH!!!
Rocking out with the Foo Fighters at the Rockefeller Center Skating Rink, Kristen was sippin' that Coors Light and

Unfortunately, we don't have any new Foo for you, but we may have something better for the band's hardcore fans — two long-lost demos from what would eventually become their 2002 album One By One.
The tracks Come Back (above) and Have It All (below) made it on the record with a significantly different sound, so these versions are definitely worth checking out.
The boys in the band refer to songs as the "million dollar demos" because they are part of the original four-month recording session for the album, which almost tore the band apart. They were actually on the verge of breaking up until a successful concert at Coachella renewed their spirits.
One By One was finished and they haven't looked back since. A decade later, The Foo Fighters are still making chart-topping hits! Check out the second demo … AFTER THE JUMP!
