But according to showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, Hodor's shocking revelation was only one of three WTF moments George R.R. Martin revealed to them!

SPOILERS ARE COMING!

About two years ago, the producers sat down with the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series to sketch out the broad strokes of how he planned on ending his saga in the books.

Game Of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin Drops New Excerpt From Next Book — And It's Already SO Different From The Show! Read HERE!

Now that Game Of Thrones has officially outpaced the novels it's based on, showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff agreed that the HBO fantasy series would deviate from George R.R. Martin's source material.

And in a new excerpt from Martin's newest novel The Winds of Winter, it's clear they weren't kidding around!

The newest book in the Song Of Ice and Fire series features several storylines and major characters that fans of the show haven't even met before!

For example, the latest chapter is told from the perspective of Princess Arienne Martell of Dorne, an important point-of-view character in the novels who doesn't even exist in the show!

In the books, Airenne is the eldest daughter of Prince Doran Martell — who was suddenly killed off in the Season 6 premiere episode — and the heiress to House Martell's seat at Sunspear, the capital of Dorne.

Aside from Airenne, the new passage is riddled with characters and plotlines that never made GoT — which swapped out Doran's meticulously crafted revenge plot (yawn!) for Ellaria's cutthroat takeover with the Sand Snakes (all minor characters in the books)!

Check out a passage from the excerpt (below) to find out just how far Martin's books have deviated from the Emmy-winning series!

Good thing we didn't hold our breath!

[SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY]

After almost a year of keeping Jon Snow's fate up in the air, Game Of Thrones finally resurrected the fan favorite character at the very end of Sunday's episode.

While we couldn't be more excited for the revival of the Lord Commander, we can't help but feel a little duped by the cast's incessant denial that our favorite crow would ever again have a pulse.

Of course, the cast was just doing their job in countering the heavy fan speculation that the hunky Night's Watchman would live — but man, were they convincing in their ruse!

No one has lied more about Jon Snow's fate than Kit Harington himself, who tried to avoid the press like the plague in the wake of the shocking Season 5 cliffhanger.

But when he did talk to reporters, the actor straight up lied and said he was "not coming back next season."

A few months later, the 29-year-old slightly changed his tune, curtly stating that he WOULD be in Season 6 — only to play a corpse! He told Time Out magazine:
