Sorry, Office fans!

Ricky Gervais will reportedly not be making a guest appearance on the show’s series finale. He’s just too busy working on the upcoming Muppets movie!

As if that wasn't bad enough, Steve Carrell, who brought the HIGHlarious and annoying Michael Scott to life, won’t be returning either!

This just adds to our anxiety over the show's nearing end — the hour-long final airs on May 16th — but at least we have Ricky's David Brent Comic Relief video to temporarily brighten things up.

Ricky Gervais Is Bringing David Brent BACK For Red Nose Day!!

The character that started it all — The Office and the fake interview concept for TV sitcoms — is coming back!! Ricky Gervais is bringing back David Brent for the Comic Relief fundraiser!

Red Nose Day on March 15 will be a day to mark on your calendars (as it should usually be!), as Ricky will be having David find a new career as a talent manager in the music industry, who then tries to help urban solo artist Dom Johnson get his big break. LOLz!

Here's what Ricky said:

So WHO Exactly Is Replacing Steve Carell On The Office?

They really are doing a good job of keeping us guessing, but it's making us effing anxious!

Steve Carell only has a few more episodes left as Michael Scott on The Office, before his character departs from our hearts forever with new fiance Holly Flax, and despite a few names having come up as his full-time replacements, recent news announcements are throwing some serious wrenches in our theories!

As you all probably know by now, Will Ferrell will be joining the cast in a few weeks as Deangelo Vickers, the apparent successor to Steve's position. Then it was announced that Will Arnett would be appearing the finale, along with Ricky Gervais, who has already cameo'd this season as his original, British version character, David Brent!

SO…there's three potential replacements - now, let's break it down:

Will Ferrell was originally signed for a four episode arc, ending with the season finale. HOWEVER, he recently made some comments that suggested that he may be taking on the series full-time, leaving many to wonder if his original plans had changed!

NOT SO, says producer Paul Lieberstein, who explains:

"Will was joking. But he commits to his jokes so fully that we're hoping he's with us long term, just as a [comedy] bit that won't end."

All right, so he's out of the way…

Will Arnett seemed to be the biggest contender for the spot, as his announcement came along with rumblings that he had struck a deal to take over for Carell full-time, before it was made public yesterday that he had signed on to co-star in the new Christina Applegate NBC comedy pilot, essentially nixing any plans he may have had for the former, which leaves us with…

Ricky Gervais.

WE KNOW. He's said he wouldn't do it.

But between his cameo, and then news that he'd be returning as David Brent for the finale…we feel like the only person fans would truly respond to positively as the successor to Michael Scott would be him!

Think about how amazingly full-circle the entire franchise will have come! One last season - let's face it, that's about as much life as the show has left - with the ORIGINATOR of it all!

Call it wishful thinking…but we honestly can't thinking of anyone else that could do it, so our fingers are staying crossed!

What do U think?? Who will replace Steve Carrell??

Who's Taking Over?! Will Arnett AND Ricky Gervais Slated To Appear In Steve's Last Episode Of The Office!

Filed under: TV NewsSteve CarellRicky Gervais

Oh man! This is HUGE!

Both Ricky Gervais and Will Arnett have been confirmed to appear in Steve Carrell's last episode of The Office, which will air toward the end of the current season!

Although there's been no official announcement as to who will be succeeding Carrell's Michael Scott as the regional manager of Scranton's Dunder Mifflin branch, there have been countless rumors that Arnett would be taking over for him, as well as speculation that Gervais would bring his character from the UK original series, David Brent, over to the states as his replacement - especially after his cameo earlier this year!

Looks like they're going to keep us guessing until the very end, which is fine by us!

We'd be thrilled with EITHER of them full-time!

What do U think?? Should Will or Ricky take over for Steve?

Michael Scott Meets David Brent!

Filed under: TV NewsSteve CarellRicky Gervais

We're just going to say it.

This could have felt forced and stoopid, and it ended up being one of the BEST and most genuinely HIGHlarious moments that the show has had in quite some time.

Check out Ricky Gervais' AMAZING cameo as David Brent on last night's episode of The Office (above)!

They couldn't have done it any more perfectly, as far as we're concerned!

And we're not sure about you, but we took his last little exchange with Steve Carrell's Michael Scott as a HUGE, possibly game-changing hint as to who might be filling his shoes come this season's end!

It would certainly make sense with the hint given HERE!

What do U think?? Is THAT really happening or was it just a red herring??

David Brent Is Back! Ricky Gervais To Cameo On The Office!

Filed under: TV NewsSteve CarellRicky Gervais

Holy shiz. This is HUGE.

Paul Lieberstein, producer of The Office, dropped a BOMB earlier today when he revealed that Ricky Gervais, who created the UK Office and played the character that ultimate inspired Steve Carrell's role, filmed a cameo as David Brent for the series that will air in the cold open of the January 27th episode!

And he's kept this on the DL since September, because that's apparently when the scene was filmed!

He reveals:

"It's a little more than if you blink, you'll miss it, but if you don't set your TiVo right, you'll miss it. Ricky had wanted to do something [with the U.S. Office] and it felt like we shouldn't go the whole series without them connecting. But we had some issues to work out, like how does David Brent live in the world of Michael Scott. It's outside of the office, and it's just the two of them interacting. It's just a llittle nod to Steve and his final year. We didn't even tell NBC at first. So [Ricky] worked for free. But don't print that — it might get him in trouble with the INS."

Ha! This is absolutely amazing!

Such a nice way to pay homage to the original series, without it compromising the reality of the US version!

At least we hope! We'll remain cautiously optimistic until it airs!

What do U think?? Are U excited for Ricky's appearance on The Office??

Will Ricky Gervais Be Replacing Steve Carell On The Office?!

Filed under: TV NewsSteve CarellRicky Gervais

THIS is brilliant!

And frankly, it's the only plausible way to keep the show going after Steve Carell signs off in May!

Now that the actor plans to retire his character, Michael Scott, on the HIGHlarious show The Office, producers are scrambling to figure out how exactly to continue the series in his absence, and they're reportedly toying with the idea of bringing in the man that started it all - Ricky Gervais' horiffically uncomfortable David Brent from the original, UK series!

Effing AMAZING! Inspired!

And think about the built-in fanbase that would tune in just to see Gervais play that awful character again! It would COMPLETELY revive the series!

Executive Producer Paul Lieberstein is toying with the idea, and says:

"We talked about it today for a while. It's not the leading idea… [but] it's not a dead idea. I don't know how David Brent could take Michael Scott's place because it would be a little bit too much of a coincidence that a documentary crew was also following him. He was also fired for incompetence [in the U.K. Office], so we'd have to create some back story for what happened. There would be some things to deal with. On the flip side, you have someone who's incredibly talented and who has played with a level of realism that's the same as our show. It wouldn't be like we would be taking a character from Cheers, like Norm, and putting him in the show. If Dunder Mifflin needed to replace Michael Scott, they'd consider both internal and external candidates. And we will show them considering both. We'll kind of start [the replacement process] and put it in motion. I don't want Steve to go, and if he decides he wants to stay, I will be very happy with that."

And Gervais himself seems to be against it, but who the eff knows if he's serious or not when he says:

"As David Brent would say, 'Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt …' As I would say, 'Why would I get up at 6 a.m. five days a week for seven years when I can hire someone else to do that and still get my syndication money?'"

We think they SERIOUSLY need to consider this option if they want to keep the show alive!

And now that this is out in the ethos as a possibility, we just don't think anything else will compare!

What do U think?? Do U want to see David Brent replace Michael Scott in The Office??
