Batman comic postponed for school shooting scene

DC Entertainment decided to postpone the release of Batman Incorporated #3 in wake of the shootings in Aurora, Colorado and now we know why.

An email to comic book retailers said the issue "contains content that may be perceived as insensitive in light of recent events."

It turns out that the insensitive content includes a teacher pulling a gun on a classroom full of kids.

Yikes! That probably wouldn't have went over well. In fact,

New Batman comic release delayed

In another respectable decision from the folks behind the Dark Knight, DC Entertainment has decided to postpone the release of Batman Incorporated #3 in wake of the shootings in Aurora, Colorado.

In an email sent to comic book retailers carrying the issue, the company instructed proprietors to withhold it until August 22nd instead of placing it on the shelves tomorrow as originally scheduled.

Apparently, DC fears that the content could be considered "insensitive" and wrote:

Comic Book Fans, Rejoice! Watchmen Is Getting A Prequel Series!

watchmen getting a prequel series

This will be extremely EXCITING news for many…and absolutely HORRIFIC news for others…

We've just learned that DC Comics has plans to publish seven "comic-book mini-series," which will "continue the stories of the adventurers introduced in Watchmen, which was written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons."

The prequel series is being referred to as Before Watchmen, and it is scheduled to start up this summer.

This is a VERY controversial move by DC, because original Watchmen writer Alan Moore will not be involved, and he's referring to these prequel comics as "completely shameless."

Here's what Moore had to say about it:

Batman Live Show To Tour Gotham Europe and North America!

batman live show to start summer 2011

On July 20, 2012, The Dark Knight Rises will be released in theaters. For those of us who can't wait that long and can afford a plane ticket to the U.K. we'll get a chance to see more Batman on July 20, 2011!

An arena show, Batman Live, will premiere in the U.K. next summer, and will reach North America by 2012.

Here's a description of the show, via press release:

Opening in Manchester on 20th July 2011 and visiting Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Birmingham, London, Liverpool, Nottingham, Dublin and Belfast, tickets for BATMAN LIVE go on sale on Friday 12th November 2010.

BATMAN LIVE is a visually stunning production, complete with a brand new original storyline. The live show will feature Batman, his trusty counterpart Robin, tireless butler Alfred and a host of other favourite Batman characters, including Villains such as The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman and The Penguin. The story will take place in several settings from the famed DC Comics stories, including Gotham City, Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum.

"With the touring BATMAN LIVE show, we're bringing Batman's adventures to live audiences for the very first time," said Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment. "The idea that we're doing it with a production team this talented and with this much passion is thrilling."

Sounds pretty cool, but where's Mr. Freeze? Poison Ivy? Batgirl? We SUPPOSE we're still innerested in seeing this even though the characters from 1997's unwatchable amazing Batman & Robin don't look like they're in the show!

Would U like to see a live Batman show? What bad guys would U like to see represented?
