Deadliest Catch Crew Member Found Dead In Hotel

Sad.

Deadliest Catch crew member Justin Tennison was found dead in a hotel yesterday — marijuana and alcohol were found in the room with him.

It’s unclear whether or not drugs played a part in his death, but police speculate that he had a party in the room the night before.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends!

Here Come The Miners!

new-series-about-miners-on-spike-channel

Well, this didn't take long at all!

Spike TV is prepping the release of a new reality show, called Coal, which will feature a group of miners from West Virginia!

Thom Beers will produce the ten-episode series, focused on the Cobalt Mine, its co-owners Mike Crowder and Tom Roberts, their families, and the town's community!

Inneresting!

Definitely is pretty in line with Beers' other shows, like Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers, so we think it will fit right in!

Let's just hope that there are no incidents on this show like the one that surely spurred this trend!

What do U think?? Are U interested in Coal??

Michael Jackson Fans Petitioning To Bury Autopsy Special

michael jackson autopsy special drama

Wow, Discovery Channel! First, you had all that Deadliest Catch drama back in September, and now you're thinking of airing a special that re-enacts Michael Jackson's autopsy?

Yikes! And 9,000 MJ fans aren't the only ones who are pissed!

Here's what co-executors of Michael's estate, John Branca and John McClain, had to say about the special in a letter sent to Discovery's CEO/President David Zaslav:

"Your decision to even schedule this program is in shockingly bad taste, insensitive to Michael's family and appears motivated solely by your blind desire to exploit Michael's death, while cynically attempting to dupe the public into believing this show will have serious medical value.

We were especially outraged when a sickening print advertisement for the program appeared making light of Michael's death by depicting a corpse sprawled on a steel gurney covered by a sheet with a hand sticking out wearing Michael's signature glove."

Over 9,000 Michael fans have signed an online petition to keep this show from airing. Discovery has yet to comment on it.

Do U think Discovery should air the special?

Deadliest Catch Drug Dramz!

deadliest catch drama over drugs

Looks like Deadliest Catch is a source of drama…again!

First, the show's captains wanted to quit, and now one of the boat's captains has claimed that a crew member was abusing drugs on board, which has spurred a police investigation.

According to the Unalaska Department of Public Safety in Alaska, police were called by Captain Derek Ray on Nov 5 to investigate potential drug abuse by a crew member on the famous boat Cornelia Marie.

Sources say that Captain Ray told police that deceased Captain Phil Harris' son Jake was abusing prescription drugs while at sea.

Officials say that drug "paraphernalia" has been found, but sufficient evidence of Jake's drug abuse has not been found at this time.

Do U think Deadliest Catch's Jake Harris is abusing drugs? Should he be arrested?

Deadliest Catch Captains Talk About Quitting The Show

deadliest catch captains discuss discovery lawsuit

After quitting Deadliest Catch, Captains Andy Hillstrand, Johnathan Hillstrand and Sig Hansen explained that the process of leaving was more difficult than crab fishing.

Andy Hillstrand said:

“It was a lot about our rights to do our own brand. There was a lot of misunderstanding. We thought Discovery had everything they needed but then they came back and said they needed pickup shots so our schedule was pretty much screwed. It got to the point in our relationship where something had to change and we just said enough’s enough. So we butted heads for a while.

It kind of made it look like me and Johnathan were doing this and then Sig stood up with us but Sig was with us."

They knew that they had a huge choice ahead of them!

Hansen added:

Quitting “was the right thing to do. We are brothers. I told these guys a long time ago, it’s fishing first. We made a lot of fans. We’ve affected a lot people in positive ways. People like us because we are real and what they see is what they get. All of a sudden, things got a little out of kilter. So what you see is what you get.”

And the result was not easy on the fisherman.

Johnathan Hillstrand said:

“Emotionally, it was hell. We didn’t want to be sued. We didn’t want all the fans hating Discovery. We just want our lives back, sort of. But it’s a little too late for that. So we’re sticking around. We are glad to be back and we’re glad that everyone is happier.”

Along with returning to Deadliest Catch, the brothers will be starring in Hillstranded in April, where the two will investigate myths and legends around Alaska.

Lots of luck.

They're Back! Deadliest Catch Captains To Return!

That didn't take long! Good thing they wised and realized having a TV show is more profitable than a fishing boat!

Though the captains went through a bit of a legal battle with the Discovery network, Deadliest Catch stars Sig Hansen and Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand will be back to work on their popular show next week in Alaska. Discovery released a statement in regards to the matter, on behalf of the cast, saying

“We’re happy we worked everything out with Discovery. A deal’s a deal. We’re heading up to Dutch Harbor to start filming the new season of Deadliest Catch and hopefully it will be the best one yet.”

The Hillstrands added in their own statement in regards to their separate Discovery special:

“Everyone worked really hard on putting together Hillstranded and we’re looking forward to wrapping that up. It’s something new that we hope people will enjoy.”

Glad it all could be work out, boys! Thankfully, you didn't rock the boat hard enough that you all ended up with nothing!

Deadliest Catch Trio May Return To The Series

deadliest catch captains may return after settling discovery lawsuit

Although it's been announced that Capts. Sig Hansen, along with Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand will not be appearing on the seventh season of Deadliest Catch, but it's not a done deal.

The Hillstrand quit amidst a $3 million lawsuit filed by Discovery for allegedly not completing work on a planned spinoff special.

But since the death of Phil Harris, the show may not survive any more drastic casting changes - and the network knows it! It's rumored that the two sides are discussing a settlement so the trio can return to the show.

And they better hurry! The boats are scheduled to leave for Dutch Harbor, Alaska, by October 15th to take advantage of king crab season in the Bering Sea.

Only time will tell.
