Two senior women at a small California eldercare home were killed after eating toxic mushroom soup.

The California Department of Social Services is investigating the case, but not releasing many details.

Apparently, a caretaker found several wild mushrooms in the facility's backyard and made them into a soup that she then fed to residents.

She even ate some herself.

The soup landed six people in the hospital, with two of them actually dying!

Bath Salt User Charged For Trying To Kill Elderly Woman

Bath Salt Crazy Pants

At what point do people see what's been going on in the past few weeks with bath salts and realize that they probably shouldn't try it?

We hope it's soon.

Last week, a man in Glendale, CA, was arrested after trying to kill an elderly woman.

Apparently he had been swinging a shovel at birds (like people on bath salts are known to do) when the woman told him to stop doing that.

Which is totally not an unreasonable thing to ask.

This is what he said to her, before trying to take her down with the shovel:

"I hate you and I want to kill you today."

WTF!

When cops showed up it took a rubber bullet AND a taser to take him down — he was convinced he was an alien who could talk to Jesus. Of course! That makes total sense!

He has now been charged with burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.

We don't even know what to say anymore.

Come on, people!

Watch Out For Super Gonorrhea!

gonorrhea-super-drug-no-work.jpg

Uh oh.

Look out all you fornicators, there's a new strain of gonorrhea that's resistant to antibiotics.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is warning doctors around the world that there is a new deadly strain of gonorrhea.

Gonorrhea normally only has one treatment, cephalosporin antibiotics, but this strain isn't affected.

A scientist in the WHO's STD department said:

"This organism has basically been developing resistance against every medication we've thrown at it. In a couple of years it will have become resistant to every treatment option we have available now."

About 106 million people a year get "the clap."

Right now, scientists are scrambling to find a different treatment, but what happens when we're just out of treatment options?

Someone needs to invent nanobots, and quick.

Bird Flu Decisions

Earlier this week we were talking about how a deadline was approaching for scientists to either unveil or totally shut up about the deadly straing of Bird Flu they created.

In a good move, they'll be keeping it secret for now.

Honestly, we wish they'd just destroy it! So scary!

The problem?

It's

Early Malaria Vaccine Results Hold Promise!!

Malaria Vaccine Promise

This is FANTASTIC news!

A new, experimental, vaccine for the most deadly strains (if not all) of malaria is showing early promise — which is such a great thing.

In animals, the vaccine stopped Plasmodium falciparum, the parasite that is responsible for 9 out of 10 malaria deaths!

Apparently the achilles heel of the parasite is a protein called RH5. Blocking this protein stops it from latching onto the host's cells.

If the safety tests go well, we could be seeing clinical tests in two to three years… which means we might have a vaccine readily available within the decade!!

Good luck to everyone involved, this is major!
