Dead Sea Turtles Washing Up On Mississippi Beaches

Sad!

Sea Turtles are part of a growing number of dead fish, animals and birds she and other Mississippi residents have photographed washing in with the tides in recent weeks. For Shirley, a trip to the beach no longer provides the same relaxing refuge as before.

One Mississippi resident said:

"It’s very upsetting. I have never found anything like this until after the oil spill. It used to be if you found a dead dolphin or turtle it was front page news around here. Now it’s no big deal.”

There have been 38 dead or stranded turtles collected in Mississippi this year, most in the past few weeks.

Officials say possible causes could range from infectious disease, sudden shifts in water temperature, biotoxins such as red tide or the impact from the BP oil that polluted the area.

The only other Gulf state to report a rise in on-shore turtle deaths this year is Texas with 48, more than twice the number counted in 2009–the year before the BP oil blowout.

That year, the total number of on-shore turtle deaths in the Gulf shot up to 248, nearly five times the number from the previous year.

Scientists say it may be impossible to know if dolphin and turtle strandings are due to the BP oil blowout.

We have to find a cause to these poor animal deaths, and we need to stop it soon!

Zoo Conditions Are Like "A Concentration Camp For Those With Fur And Feathers"

Concentration camp zoo

We cannot let animals be treated this way!

Animal welfare groups from around the world are calling for the immediate closure of Kiev Zoo after a shocking spate of animal deaths.

The 100-year-old zoo has recently been dubbed

"a concentration camp for those with fur and feathers,"

with many suspecting corruption to be at the heart of the problem.

An Indian elephant called Boy, the pride of the zoo, collapsed and died in his enclosure last year.

Animal welfare groups say dozens if not hundreds of animals have died at the zoo in recent years due to malnutrition, a lack of medical care and mistreatment.

Once the jewel of the Ukrainian capital and a favourite weekend spot for families, the zoo began to deteriorate after the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union and the years of poverty that followed.

Many locals hope the zoo can be saved. However, Tamara Tarnavska of the Kiev-based SOS animal rights group believes the zoo must be closed to protect its animals from further abuse.

"The zoo is in such a condition that it's no longer a zoo, it's a concentration camp. When I look those animals in the eyes, I am ashamed to be a human being."

Dozens Of Baby Dolphins Found In The South

baby dolphins

So sad.

The dolphin deaths are the latest in a series of mass animal deaths from around the world

Dozens of dead baby dolphins have mysteriously washed ashore in Alabama and Mississippi in the latest mass animal deaths.

Twenty-eight corpses have been found so far - ten times the usual number.
The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies is investigating the cause of the tragedy.

Scientists at the institute are carrying out tests on the marine mammals in attempt to find the cause of their deaths.

Reports say it is too early to tell if there is a connection between the deaths and last year's BP oil spill, which happened during the dolphin's breeding season.

Hopefully science will find an answer to the bizarre mass deaths soon.

200 Cows Drop Dead In Wisconsin!

We don't mean to sound like conspiracy theorists, but first it was the birds, then it was fish, and now 200 cows just dropped dead in Portage County, Wisconsin.

Fortunately in this case, authorities seem to know exactly what killed these poor cows.

The Portage Country sheriffs department says the cattle died due to a virus that causes respiratory and reproductive problems. Investigators believe there is no threat to other animals or people in the area.

Obviously, just like every other mass animal death report we've heard in the last month, this case is not related to any of the other animal deaths occurring around the globe.

That's a relief, but we still can't help but think…what if they are?

Only time will tell and when if the world explodes, we can say, "We may not have told you so, but had a sneaking suspicion!"

Dead Seals, Catfish, And Other Sea Creatures Wash Up On Canada's Shore

Dead seals and catfish wash up on Canada's shore

We could keep saying the world is ending or we could put an optimistic spin on all these animal deaths like Disney's The Lion King.

It's just the circle of life, folks!

We hope.

As many as 20 dead harp seals, hundreds of catfish, and a myriad of other marine life, like sea slugs, sea urchins and starfish have been washing up on the shores of Boat Harbour, Newfoundland in Canada.

Wallace Woodward, who has lived in the small community northwest of St. Anthony for most of his 52 years, says no one can remember such a thing happening before.

“I’ve never seen anything like it, b’y, in all my years. It’s just unbelievable,” the fisherman said of the mysterious phenomenon.

He said many of the catfish seemed skinny or malnourished, as if they were struggling to find food, but the seals looked as if they were healthy before they died.

The first dead seals started to appear not long after a storm surge swept across the Northern Peninsula on Christmas Eve.

Hmm…that sounds familiar.

Officials do not know the cause of death and are investigating.

This is all pretty scary stuff, but just remember. It's the circle of life! Hopefully.

Bird Swarm Acting Fishy Over Toronto

The birds are coming! The birds are coming! The birds are coming!

Or they're just deciding where they are going to drop dead next.

This video of a swarm of birds acting erratically over city streets was shot on January 5th in Canada and in light of all the bird death news, is kind of freaky.

What do U think? Are these birds just being birds or does something have them acting batty?
