Ron Howard Talks Dark Tower Film! It's Still Happening!

ron howard still doing dark tower

Last month, we were bummed to hear that Universal Pictures had decided to push back production on The Dark Tower until February due to budget issues.

Then last week, we were bummed yet again to hear that the film's script was being rewritten AND that director Ron Howard was reportedly considering bailing on the project.

It was beginning to seem like Dark Tower may be doomed, but Ron Howard has spoken up about the project, and based on what he's saying now, it sounds like the project is still very much a go!

Here's Ron on the film's delays:

Nic Cage Returns To Work Without Incident

Filed under: Icky Icky PooNicolas Cage

Nic Cage Not Affected By Arrest

Apparently, Nic Cage returned to work after his run in with the cops due to a domestic violence arrest. He returned to work, ready, on time, and without mention of the goings on from the weekend.

Like nothing happened:

A rep for the film, "Medallion" tells us production on the flick has NOT been affected in any way because of Cage's sloppy domestic violence arrest early Saturday morning … and today, things seemed completely normal.

Not sure what else he could really do, though, he had a job to do, and having people bring it up at work seems like the right path to pushing into him into more trouble, which would probably manifest as production delays and on-set turmoil.

Dude needs to control himself, though, because ANY kind of domestic violence is not cool.

Do U think that the production should have made a fuss about it??

Awkward! Will Smith Has His OWN Men In Black III Writer

will smith brings in mystery writer for mib 3

Way to keep everyone on the same page, Will!

Men in Black III has been experiencing all types of delays because of screenplay issues…and now another bizarre issue has come up with regards to the script.

While other writers were working on the script, Will Smith brought in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air writer Mike Soccio to "punch up his part," but NONE of the other writers even knew about him.

Here's what Sony had to say about this mystery writer in a statement:

"[Soccio] was hired for minor on-set punch-up work during our initial production period while [screenplay writer] Etan [Cohen] was not on location. If any writer was unaware of his involvement, we regret that.”

No word on any writers taking any kind of extreme offense to Soccio's involvement, but that's definitely strange.

Maybe they can flashy-thing the writers, so nobody remembers any of this!

…But then they'd have to flashy-thing us too…we take it back! We like our memory as is. Ha!

Do U think it was shady for them to bring on a writer without telling anybody? Or do U think it's not a big deal?

It's Actually Happening! Mad Max: Fury Road To Start Filming In 2012

mad max starts filming in 2012

After all types of delays, it looks like the new Mad Max is now set to start filming next January.

Here's what director George Miller had to say about it:

“We will restart pre-production later this year and begin early next year—weather permitting. We’ve built the vehicles. We’ve designed the movie. The principal cast is locked in. The film is funded. It’s all ready to go. We just wait."

“All the contracts are signed. It’s a locked-in film. It has been for 18 months now. Ironically, had we been shooting in Broken Hill in January and February—when we were meant to—we would have been flooded out.”

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are set to star in the film, but Take Me Home Tonight star Teresa Palmer will most likely NOT be involved when the film starts up in January.

Here's what she had to say about it:

"I was in negotiations for that movie for a while but then I had I Am Number Four come up and then Mad Max went on hiatus so no I’m not involved in it at the moment.”

Ah well. We're sure Teresa would have been fine in the film, but we were kind of already won over as soon as we heard Tom Hardy's name!

Are U excited to hear that a new Mad Max is actually going to happen?

No One Told Ian McKellan About The Hobbit Production Delays! Arrives In New Zealand Five Weeks Early!

Filed under: Icky Icky PooFilm Flickers

SERIOUSLY?!

It's pretty safe to assume at this point that Peter Jackson's production of The Hobbit is bordering on 'cursed' territory, as the shooting date was once again pushed back due to the director's recent perforated stomach ulcer requires that he take five weeks to recuperate - but it seems that no one informed the flick's star, Ian McKellan, who arrived in New Zealand only to be informed of the delay!

The actor wrote on his blog:

“A wizard is never late: but I hadn't intended last Thursday to arrive in Wellington for The Hobbit filming, five weeks early. Filming was to start at the end of February 2011. I curtailed a holiday in India to make sure I would be on time. Then, while I was away, Peter Jackson had his stomach operation. The insurance company has insisted on five weeks recuperation. Which is why, yet again, I’m here early.”

Good lord! Nobody can catch a break, can they?

We truly, truly hope that this is the last production snag, guys!

Our fingers our crossed for you! We KNOW that the end result is going to be well worth all of the headaches!

Thoughts??

The Hobbit To Begin Production In March!

the-hobbit-to-begin-production-on-march-21st

Finally!

After more production delays and complications than we can count, The Hobbit is expected to begin principal photography on Monday, March 21st!

According to director Peter Jackson:

"Despite some delays we are fully back on track and very excited to get started."

And the film's production company, 3Foot7 Ltd. elaborates:

"This date has been chosen following practical considerations of the filming schedule requirements, actor availability and the NZ seasons. Shooting will take place at Stone Street Studios in Miramar and on location around New Zealand."

Our fingers are crossed that no more freak accidents or bull shiz gets in the way, and production kicks off without a hitch!

But with their track record, we'll admit that we're more than a little nervous!

Here's hoping, guys!
