Ted Cruz Just Tried To Insult The Democrats By Calling Them 'The Party Of Lisa Simpson' — And Twitter Can't Stop Laughing!

Oh, Ted Cruz

In a hilarious self-own from the most disliked man in congress, the Texas Senator said in his CPAC speech on Thursday:

"The Democrats are the party of Lisa Simpson, and Republicans are happily the party of Homer, Bart, Maggie, and Marge."

LOLz, we're pretty sure he was going for the numbers there, but anyone who has seen a single episode of The Simpsons knows that Lisa is the smartest, most reasonable person in a town filled with lovable but insipid buffoons who need to be saved from themselves. LOLz.

Of course, we weren't the only ones who couldn't help but smack around Cruz after such an idiotic gaffe!

Donald Trump is set to deliver his first State Of The Union on January 30. (Spoiler Alert: the Union ain't doin' so hot!)

But thanks to the congresswomen of the Democratic Party, there will be at least one bright spot — well, figuratively bright anyway.

The Democratic Women's Working Group is urging all of Congress follow Hollywood's lead and wear all black to the speech, in support of the #TimesUp initiative.

After Senate Debacle, House Democrats Are Holding A Sit-In Protest For Gun Control Reform! Look!

After the Senate rejected four gun control proposals in the wake of the country's worst mass shooting in history, Democrats in the House of Representatives decided to try a different tactic.

They're protesting.

It all started when Representative John Lewis (above, center), a veteran of the Civil Rights movement in the '60s, took to the House floor and said:

"Now is the time for us to find a way to dramatize it, to make it real. We have to occupy the floor of the House until there is action."

Then the House Dems just sat down on the floor. And they're not moving.

The protest — which is not being televised because the House is not currently in session — is being reported by the Reps themselves, on Twitter:

This wasn't a surprise, but still good to see!

The Democrats held a caucus in Nevada on Saturday, and Hillary Clinton came away the winner, defeating fellow liberal candidate Bernie Sanders at the polls in the far western state.

George Clooney Raises Over Half A Mil For Obama During Switzerland Fundraiser

George Clooney is at it again!

The actor has been raising money for Barack Obama's re-election campaign left and right this summer and continued to do so in Switzerland on Monday.

Along with Democrats Abroad’s co-president Charles Adams (pictured above), Clooney hosted a fundraising dinner in Geneva, which was limited to U.S. citizens.

The event started off with a champagne reception for 150 people — each donating $1,000 — then turned into a dinner for 50 people which cost $20,000 a person. If guests came as a couple, however, they got the super saver deal and only had to shell out $30,000!

What a deal! Ha!

No records were broken this time and campaign contributions didn't come close to $15 million, but the dinner still raised $625,000!

Cher Starts Inadvertent War With The Right Wing After Slamming Mitt Romney Via Twitter!

cher-takes-on-republicans-mitt-romney

Yeah. We imagine she's really crying a river over all the people trying to knock her down. She's been through worse.

After Cher took to her Twitter yesterday morning to express her disgust with Mitt Romney and his politics, she received an unbelievable amount of backlash from the right wing!

And although she later deleted the offending messages on the grounds that spreading hatred in that fashion is beneath her, she is NOT apologizing for her opinions!

DUH. BECAUSE SHE'S EFFING CHER!
