Teen Tragically Kills Herself After Tweeting 144 Times

Ashley Billasano

So Sad!!

Instead of going to school Tuesday morning Ashley Billasano, a Texas teen, committed suicide.

This tragic insolent could have been prevented, if only someone, ANYONE, had responded to one of the 144 tweets she sent out before taking her life!!

"It's obvious [Billasano] needed somebody to talk to and that's what I believe those tweets were …she was trying to communicate and trying to get people to talk to her,"

said Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department chief Craig Brady, making an observation that anyone could see.

For six hours the 18-year-old tweeted about being molested and forced into prostitution, and none of her 500+ followers said a thing back.

Ashley talked about seeking help. She wrote:

"I remember telling my closest teacher and CPS and the police detectives. I remember having to tell them everything.

"Weeks passed, then I got the call. They said sorry but there isn't enough evidence I hung up."

She said she had tried killing herself before:

"I took apart a razor. I did what I had to do to forget. I swear after that night I was never the same"

Her final tweet:

"Take two. I hope I get this right."

Why wasn't anyone there to stop her? Suicidal teens continue to seek help through facebook, twitter, and blogs, and they're outcries appear to go unnoticed.

We have to do something to change this. Ashley's death, others like her, could have been prevented!!
