Tilda Swinton Responds To Doctor Strange Whitewashing Controversy By Saying She's Not Playing An 'Asian Character'
Long before Marvel's next superhero flick Doctor Strange even went into production, the studio was receiving some flack for casting Tilda Swinton in the role of the Ancient One.
The problem several people had with the actress was that the role was not only traditionally a male character, but Asian as well!
While we LOVED the trailer for Strange that gave us our first glimpse of Swinton's character, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, there still fans who are a bit upset and claimed Tilda's casting was another example of cultural appropriation of Asian characters.
