"Trunking" Fighting Dogs Rescued By Animal Services

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

The newest and most horrible form of animal cruelty is called "trunking."

Trunking is where two fighting dogs are simply locked in the trunk of car.

Then the dogs fight to death as the owner drives around, blasting music to cover up the sound.

After ten or fifteen minutes, the owner pulls over, dumps the body of the dead dog and continues on with the winner, waiting until he heals up enough to fight again.

It's absolutely terrible and it's so good that there are people out rescuing these dogs, like Miami-Dade County Animal Services, who rescued a group of dogs that were thought to have been used for trunking.

Five adult dogs and four puppies were rescued from a man's home in terrible condition.

Check out the video (above) to see some of the cute pups who were rescued and to learn more about this horrible crime.

Michael Vick: I Miss My Dogs

Michael Vick misses his dogs

Aw, poor Michael Vick.

The ex-animal torturer and current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is bitching about not being allowed to own a dog.

Vick told GQ Magazine:

“I miss dogs, man. I always had a family pet, always had a dog growing up. It was almost equivalent to the prison sentence, having something taken away from me for three years. I want a dog just for the sake of my kids, but also me. I miss my companions.”

We have little (actually less than little) sympathy the asshole person who personally hanged or drowned seven dogs.

Luckily for the dog community, Vick can't legally own a dog until his probation is up in late 2012.

What a shame.

Cat Fight Over Dog Magazines!

This Is Super Cereal!!!!!!!!

Insults have been traded, legal threats issued and police called in. There has even been a report that the c-word (gasp!) was shouted - all over the phrase "The Country's First and Only Dog Magazine." LOLZ!

Beverley Cuddy, editor and publisher of the long-established Surrey-based monthly magazine Dogs Today, and Lizette Roux had set up a quarterly publication, Surrey Dog Life, is totally pissed at Lizette Roux, the owner of Surrey Dog Life.

Mrs Roux said on Sunday:

"I complained to the police of intimidation and harassment. All I want to do is be happy and have a nice life. But she is a rottweiler as far as I’m concerned. It’s all been very upsetting. Mine is the first and only dog magazine in Surrey. Dogs Today is a national publication which is just based in Surrey."

The parties have been advised to cease direct contact and resolve any civil dispute through legal representatives.

The only winners in this sorry are the cat people - who get one point for having nothing to do with this.

Vick Confronted By His Dog's New Owner

Filed under: Michael VickIcky Icky Dog PooDog

In a recent interview Michael Vick claimed he still thought about the dogs he used in the fighting ring in 2006.

Check out Vick's reaction when Richard Hunter, who adopted one of the dogs that was rescued from Vick's dog fighting ring, tries to talk to him about his former pet.

We doubt Michael believes in karma.

End Dogfighting Campaign Is Coming To Philadelphia

We are huge supporters of this campaign!

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) had started an initiative called the End Dogfighting Campaign. It began in Chicago, went to Atlanta and now it is going to be hitting Philadelphia by then end of 2010.

The HSUS said that they chose Philadelphia as their next stop because there were many benefactors who donated to the cause and asked for it to raise awareness in the city.

One of these benefactors is the Philadelphia Eagles, who recently acquired former dog fighter Michal Vick.

The campaign involves community outreach in the following areas:

The Pit Bull Training Team shows pit bulls as friends and not fighters.

Community Outreach provides vaccination clinics and other things to help dogs in the community.

The Law Enforcement Partnership has HSUS teaching those in law enforcement training on catching dog fighters.

For the Humane Education program, the HSUS developed a special eight-week curriculum for middle school children to teach them about the horrors of dogfighting.

Check out the PSA above made by the Animal Rescue Association to show how sad dog fighting is.

Michael Vick Speaks Out Against Dog Fighting To Students!

We appreciate that he's attempting to clean up his act.

Check out (above) a clip of Eagles quarterback Michael Vick talking to the students of a Philadelphia High School about his troubled past with dog fighting.

The road to redemption is a long one, so we hope that he continues to speak out against such a horrific and brutal activity. He owes it to the animals that he had a part in abusing!
