The Hobbit Has The LARGEST-EVER December Domestic Box Office Debut!

That's right, folks!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has beat out Avatar!

Peter Jackson's newest adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien classic debuted this weekend to an estimated $84.8 MILLION weekend box office, which secures it above the James Cameron sci-fi extravaganza as the largest ever domestic debut for a film released in December!

Oh, and with the $138.2 million it made overseas, the flick has made a combined $223 MILLION worldwide!

Holy SHIZ! Way to go, Gandalf!

Or perhaps we should be congratulating the much-criticized high-frame-rate format in which the film was shot, as IMAX theaters playing the film in such averaged $44,000 per screen while regular screens made $31,000!

Either way, they can only go UP from here on out!

Skyfall Reclaims Its Box Office Throne From Breaking Dawn - Part 2!

skyfall-reclaims-box-office-number-one

It's official, folks!

The reign of Twilight over the box office is coming to a close!

After spending three weeks at number one, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 finally lost its footing to not just James Bond, whose latest movie, Skyfall, made it back to the top for the first time in four weekends with $11 million, but also Rise of the Guardians, who came in second with $10.5 million after a slow start!

So where did that leave our beloved Edward and Bella?!

In the number position with $9.2 million, closely followed by Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, with $9.1 million!

We doubt the folks at Summit are TOO upset, though!

The concluding chapter to the sparkling vampire franchise has out-done both Breaking Dawn - Part 1 AND New Moon with a domestic gross of $268.7 million!

Not too shabby, Stephenie Meyer! Not too shabby at all!

Hollywood DOMINATES Thanksgiving! Biggest Box Office For Holiday Weekend On Record!

thanksgiving-weekend-record-breaking-box-office-breaking-dawn-skyfall

Talk about a happy Thanksgiving, Hollywood!

This holiday weekend broke box office RECORDS by making the most money during both the Wednesday-Sunday and Friday-Sunday grosses ever seen, no doubt thanks to the respective releases of Breaking Dawn - Part 2 and Skyfall!

That's right, the final segment in The Twilight Saga had the biggest second weekend for any of the movies in its franchise so far with $43.1 million, which means it's made $227 million in the States alone, and $577.7 million WORLDWIDE!

Yup, we're talking HALF a billion dollars right there!

Meanwhile, the newest Bond movie didn't do too shabby itself, with $36 million alone this weekend, which upped its domestic total to $221.7 million…the highest-grossing in its franchise! Oh, and worldwide, it's put away $494 so far!

Of course, that put quite a dent in the newly released Rise of the Guardians, having only made $24 million so far!

But seriously! Was there any way it stood a chance with THOSE two mammoth blockbusters?!

Yeah, we didn't think so!

Lindsay Lohan Helps Her Mom's Foreclosure Crisis; Gets A Broken Bracelet As Thanks!

dina lindsay lohan foreclosure money problems

Uggghhh… this headache grows and grows!!

We knew Dina Lohan owed Lindsay something like $40,000, and we knew that was a huge catalyst for their recent domestic fight.

But we had no idea it had to deal with foreclosure!

Okay, we could have guessed, but now it's official!

Back in 2010, JPMorgan Chase Bank filed docs to get her Long Island home on the auction block, but she was able to work out a new payment agreement which saved her some time.

And with the help of Linds, she began making these payments but fell short somewhere down the line. So that's when LiLo gave her the 40K, and that's why their blowout

expendables-2-number-one-domestic-box-office-weekend

R-Patz, Whitney Houston, and a testorone-fueled explosion-fest?!

Yeah, there was no way The Dark Knight Rises could face off against ALL of them…at least in the box office!

That's right, Batman has finally been knocked out of the top five highest-grossing movies domestically this weekend, as The Expendables 2 dominated the competition by landing itself in the number one spot by raking in $28.8 million!

Meanwhile, Jeremy Renner's Bourne Legacy held steady at number two, making $17 million, and of course, Whitney Houston's final performance in Sparkle came in fifth with $12!

And despite it only playing in three theaters, Robert Pattinson's limited release of Cosmopolis managed to pull in $72,000…which gave it the weekend's biggest per-screen average!

Ah-MAZING! And so well-deserved!

The Dark Knight Rises No More! The Bourne Legacy And The Campaign Beat Out Batman At The Box Office!

bourne-legacy-and-the-campaign-top-box-office

Well, it was a good run while it lasted!

Especially given its tragic circumstances!

After three weeks dominating the domestic box office, The Dark Knight Rises was knocked down to the number three spot by the Jeremy Renner-fronted Bourne Legacy, and then Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis in The Campaign!

The action reboot came in at number one with $40.3 million, which, while not as successful as the second and third installments starring Matt Damon, was enough to let Universal execs "breathe a sigh of relief!"

Meanwhile, The Campaign managed to take in $27.4 million, while Christopher Nolan's concluding chapter in his Batman trilogy was down 45% at $19.5 million!
