Q & A With Dr. J

Dr J

A FitPerez reader is worried about a friend who is more focused on partying then getting an education. They wrote life coach Dr. J for advice on how to bring up the issue and persuade her to get her life back on track, asking:

I like to have a good time with my friends when we go out but I know where to draw the line. One of my friends has been going a little overboard when we go out and I am worried she may have a problem. She dropped out of school and all she does lately is hang out at her boyfriend's house with him and his buddies. How do I get her back on track?

According to Dr. J:

Whether it‘s high school or college, we can ALL use a breather from the books from time to time. However, it sounds like your gal-pal is getting an education outside the classroom that appears to be more appealing than looking at a chalkboard. She clearly is favoring fun and substances over the ping and pangs of being a scholastic superstar. It sounds to me that she is getting the type of attention and chemical distractions that just might not be for her highest good.

Getting your friend back on track can be a tricky, and possibly trying, course. We ALL can feel your genuine concern and care for your friend, so perhaps it’s time to have an "Academic Ambush." The next time you have some alone time with her, speak from your heart and uproot her from her unproductive rut by listing the concerns you have about the Boy-Contraband and let her know you’re worried it might be threatening her immediate and long-term safety and well-being. What she’s doing may feel good now, but you need to remind her every step she takes leads her forward in life, so she should be picking the right direction for her path. Every step counts!

You may also want to talk to her family, especially if she's hiding her behavior from her family. Now is the time to tattle-tale. You might lose a friend, but it’s worth the risk because you might also end up saving her Life. Standing by in silence will end up hurting your friend and also your heart. I do hope your friend surrenders to your loving support and sees your sincerity. Pointing out the pitfalls or even dragging a friend out of the trenches of life and rescuing them from themselves is no easy task, but it is a selfless act. So stand strong in your convictions of friendship and be proud that you want to help. Regardless of the outcome of your sincere attempts to help your friend, I commend You on any efforts You embark on.

If you've got a question about how to handle something bothering you in life, shoot us an email or ask the doctor himself @AskDocJ on Twitter!

Viggo Mortensen Drops Out Of Snow White

viggo-mortensen-drops-out-of-snow-white.jpg

What a shame.

Viggo Mortensen has dropped out of negotiations to play the male lead in the upcoming film, Snow White and the Huntsman.

Viggo's been rumored to play the role of the Huntsman, however sources sources say he backed out after the studio couldn't afford to meet his $8 million salary demands.

Sadsies.

He's also been rumored to be one of the frontrunners to play the villain in the upcoming film, Superman: The Man of Steel, which means dropping out of Snow White would give him the chance to do Zack Snyder's reboot.

Viggo was perfect for the Huntsman role so we're sad to see him go, but maybe this will be a bonus for us if he's ready and willing to do Superman.

Holy Shiz! Cher In Talks For The Three Stooges Remake!

Filed under: Film FlickersJim CarreyCherSean Penn

cher-in-talks-for-the-three-stooges-remake

We didn't know how they would resusciate this one after their proposed leads dropped out, but we certainly think that this plan could do the job!

The Farrelly Brothers are busy promoting their new flick, Hall Pass, but are also using that time to reveal some fun new details about their upcoming big-screen revamp of The Three Stooges!

Although the original choices for the characters - Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Jim Carrey - are now essentially defunct, the directorial team have claimed that they want to secure none other than CHER for the role of Mother Superior, the nun that Larry, Moe, and Curly constantly terrorize!

Peter Farrelly explains:

"Cher is just the coolest chick ever. It's hard to describe. You meet a lot of celebrities in our business. We're not cowed by many of them. But Cher is bawdy, she's fun, she's cool, she's lived a life, she's got experience, she's humble. It's the humility that struck me the most. She's not really a diva."

Wow! Wouldn't that just be AMAZEBALLS?!

And as for the still-uncast trio, Bobby Farrelly reveals:

"We need to get the voices. The Stooges had very specific voices and we need to get as close as we can to that. We've seen some guys come in that are pretty spot-on, but at the same time there's something about them that's not funny. Just because they can do a great imitation doesn't mean you're going to burst out laughing when you watch it. There are unknowns who are amazing, and there are knowns who are amazing. And we want to be fair. If a complete unknown is the best, we want to go with that guy. I don't think we're going to improve on the Stooges. It's not going to better than what they did. If we can approach what they did, I'd be happy. There's nothing inside of me that thinks it's going to be funnier than what they did."

Peter adds:

"When you create a character, if someone goes off one way or another, you welcome that. But these guys are caught in a box. They must do it a certain way, and they also need to find a newness to it. It's a tricky thing. And there are some great actors who can be funny and have great comic timing but they can't be physical. We need athletes on top of everything else. The Stooges themselves, we can't beat. But I think we can beat the material. And it's because they didn't have a budget. We don't have a huge budget, but they didn't have anything. They were working on nothing. They were creating something out of thin air to put in the present day and put in the real world; updating it allows us to be better than they were. No matter what we do, some people will not like this movie, just because there are the purists who say 'You shouldn't be remaking it. Our feeling about it is this: We love the Three Stooges. And the Three Stooges never got the Class A treatment they deserve. They were never Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello or the Marx brothers. They never got movies, and they never got the adulation in their lives that we feel they deserve. We've thought about it for 12 years. I literally lie in bed thinking about every single shot. I've never been more prepared to do a movie in my life."

Holy shiz! Talk about commitment!

With all of the time and thought they've clearly put into this, we sincerely hope that they can find the right cast and look that makes it successful!

And we DEFINITELY think that Cher is a step in the right direction! She would be absolutely INSPIRED casting!

What do U think?? Who do U want to see as The Three Stooges?

Alan Cumming Is Glad He Quit The Spider-Man Musical!

alan-cumming-does-not-regret-dropping-out-of-spiderman-musical

We can't say we blame him, given the amount of injuries setbacks this production has had!

Alan Cumming, who was previously attached to portray the Green Goblin in the accident-prone musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark before he dropped out due to numerous delays, recently spoke out about the production, and seems to be pretty content with his decision to leave - despite having to continue working with director Julie Taymor on her film adaptation of The Tempest!

He explained:

"My GOD, that was a lucky escape. Jesus Christ! Talk about dodging a bullet there! …it just fucked me about. It kept getting delayed and delayed, and so I was like, 'OK, time to move on.' Yeah, it was a bit awkward. She wasn't best pleased when I quit. But the thing about Julie is that she's very blinkered about her work, and then things go into the ether. So the next time I saw her for The Tempest, it was like it never happened."

Well that's good!

We would hope that she would have understood how frustrating the wait for Spider-Man was, and kept it professional on the set of the flick, so we're very pleased to hear that!

Not to mention that we're thrilled you weren't the victim of any 'technical difficulties,' bb!

Smart call getting out when you did!

Real Heidi Doll Bails On Potential Reality TV Show!

Filed under: Love LineSpencer PrattSad SadReality TV

wenn5446519jb__opt1__opt1__.jpg

Maybe she's finally been away from him long enough to - dare we say it? - THINK at all clearly!

After the Real Heidi Doll separated from her famewhoring, unstable husband Spencer Twatt, it was initially reported that she and her more stable, but equally famewhoring friend, Jennifer Bunney, would star in a new reality show together!

However, Bunney has taken to her website to announce that FrankenTittays has bailed on the idea, and will not be a part of the series!

She says:

“Originally I was supposed to do a reality show with Heidi , but right now it looks like some things have changed, and I don’t know if Heidi wants to be involved in reality TV at the moment with everything going on in her personal life (no we are not in a fight, and no Heidi is not 'dropping' me to do reality shows with the twins). So, since that recent development our original network and some others as well have offered to continue on with the show despite Heidi possibly not being involved, which I just recently agreed to. Although, I of course wanted to pursue this project with her I also respect that she has a lot to deal with right now and have to decided to go ahead and move forward with it alone, since these opportunities have presented themselves (my hope is that she will want to be involved later on).”

Shock! We actually cannot believe this!

Heidi must actually be dealing with some shiz if she doesn't want to air it for the world to see!

Maybe she's beginning to see the light!

Keep your chin up, bb! Clarity is coming!

Thoughts??
