Marijuana Can Be Dangerous To Your Dog!

marijuana-effects-on-dogs2-web.jpg

If you've ever wondered what it takes to get a dog high, you're not thinking of your pooch's health!

Unlike humans, dogs suffer from toxicity in their nervous system when it comes to marijuana.

While effects from Mary Jane can be observed from second hand smoke, eating marijuana is especially dangerous for your pup.

Some symptoms include:

stumbling
inability to walk
twitching
dribbling urine
agitation
depression
coma (not as common)
seizures
dilation of pupils
diarrhea
drooling
vomiting
death (not as common)

Yikes!

If you feel that your dog may have gotten into the bad stuff, contact your veterinarian ASAP! Vets will try to expunge the toxins from the bloodstream.

Owners should do everything in their power to avoid their four legged friend's exposure to marijuana!

Viagra For Dogs??

While Viagra in humans is used for… other things… in dogs it's used to treat pulmonary hypertension, or high blood pressure in the lungs.

This could normally kill a dog but with the help of the "little blue pill" it evens out their blood pressure, keeping them alive.

So every day, dogs are snuck a beef-flavored version of liquid Viagra, to keep them alive.

Learn something new every day.

Pit Bull Eats Owners Face

Pit Bull Eats Dead Guy's Face

EWWWW!

Authorities are struggling to determine with certainty what killed Matthew Lebold, an overdose on drugs or a dog eating him.

A source said that the dog

"had eaten through parts of the man’s face, neck and chest after he was dead."

The autopsy performed on Lebold Wednesday was inconclusive, but the Cook County Medical Examiner's office is still waiting on results from a toxicology test, which will likely confirm that his death was drug-related.

Man high on bath salts kills neighbor's goat, police say

19-year-old Mark Thompson got high on bath salts (yeah, bath salts) then allegedly stole and stabbed his neighbors goat!

Lisa Powers said she bought the goat on Friday as a gift to her 4-year-old grandson.

Powers' nephew got a tip from a neighbor early Monday morning, telling him the goat was out and wondering around Mr. Thompson's house.

The nephew entered the house and made his way to Thompson's bedroom door when Thompson said "Don't come in, I'm naked."

But (for some reason) he opened the door and he was standing there with his pants down. He had on women's clothing and the goat was dead and there was blood everywhere. Totally normal stuff.

That's when Thompson (aka Dr. Normal) ran out the front door.

Police were called to the house, and in the bedroom found the small gray and white goat wearing a pink collar lying dead on the floor, blood coming from its neck. There was a pornographic magazine photo laying a few feet from the goat.

Sources say, when police caught Thompson told police he was on bath salts for about three days.

We can only guess that this crazy behavior was brought on by Charlie Sheen Bath Salts recently put on the market.

Mice Trained For Airport Security

Mice detect bombs and drugs

Woah! We can honestly say we NEVER saw this coming.

Israeli scientists have discovered that mice are more accurate than dogs or x-ray machines to detect bombs and drug couriers so they have created a detector containing three concealed cartridges with 8 specially trained mice to do the job.

The contraption looks similar to a full-body scanner, but instead of x-ray, rely's solely on specially trained mice that sense traces of drugs and run to a side chamber where the trigger an alarm.

Inventor Eran Lumbroso who hopes larger companies will help with the final stages of development said:

"It is as if they are smelling a cat and escaping. We detect the escape."

For those concerned with animal cruelty it seems like the mice are taken care of. They work in 4 hour shifts and have fresh air pumped into their respective cartridge.

Sounds like an inneresting idea! What do U think?

Anti-Depressants Found In Montreal River May Be Affecting Fish

Anti-depressants in water can affect fish

Well, this is just proof that no matter what we do, we may just end up destroying the planets natural balance. Even if we take anti-depressants!

A recent research study has found anti-depressants, passed through sewage water into Montreal's Saint Lawrence river ecosystems, accumulate in fish and can alter their brain activity.

The anti-depressants are passed into sewage through our, uh, you know…and since Montreal's sewage system treats solid waste but does not disinfect wastewater (which is a gross thought all together), anti-depressants are infecting the water.

A researcher says:

“We know that antidepressants have negative side effects on human beings, but we don’t know how exactly these chemicals are affecting the fish, and by extension, the Saint Lawrence River’s ecosystem. Nevertheless, we are seeing an impact on the river’s ecosystem, which should concern cities everywhere.”

We're still A LITTLE more concerned with infected sewage wastewater flowing into our rivers, but we get it. A little dose of anti-depressant could throw off the entire ecosystem.

Last year research conducted in England discovered a similar scenario, but with shrimp instead of fish. The study revealed anti-depressants found in the water may have already the shrimp more likely to be eaten by predators.

The amount of anti-depressants in the fish is very small, but it is uncertain how little of the drugs can cause a change in small marine creatures, or even in birds that may consume contaminated fish.

Fish and birds? Could anti-depressants be the cause of all these birds dropping since Christmas?

Hey, it's possible!

While it isn’t known exactly if the anti-depressants are having negative effects on Montreal fish, in humans they can cause decreased libido, weight gain, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, dry mouth, blurred vision, nervousness and constipation.

This is definitely something scientists should keep their mind on, but maybe all the fish will just become overwhelmingly happy!
