American Horror Story Becomes FX's Highest Rated Series Premiere Ever, Thanks To DVR!

american horror story has best premiere ever for fx

FX president John Landgraf totally called this!

After the initial ratings came in for American Horror Story's series premiere, the FX prez had the following to say about it:

"We’re really thrilled by the premiere ratings performance of American Horror Story. We know that when the Live+7 ratings come in, that of the 13 drama series FX has premiered, AHS will rank at least No. 2 all-time in Adults 18-4 and there is a possibility that it could be our highest ever."

He was right! The Live+7 ratings are in and thanks to people watching the AHS premiere on DVR, the show landed a total of 3.14 million viewers, making it the highest rated series premiere for FX ever!

Very exciting! Between this and the renewal of The Walking Dead, it's become quite clear that Americans are LOVING the horror genre more than ever!

Have u been watching American Horror Story? Do U think it deserves all the attention it's getting???

Just Because You DVR It, Doesn't Mean You Necessarily Watch It!

Seriously? We're pretty shocked to learn this.

According to Nielsen ratings, Hawaii Five-0 is the most DVR'd television show of all time, with 3.37 million viewers recording the reboot within a week of its September 20th airing.

Of course, it's still unclear if the aforementioned 3.37 million people ever go back and actually watch it, but a record is still a record!

LOLs!

Actually, People Do Watch 90210!

They've just been watching it later on, after Dancing With The Stars is over.

Someone over at Nielsen Co. has come to realize that this new-fangled thing called DVR has changed the way we all watch TV. No longer do we have to choose between two shows in the same time slot. We can watch one and record the other for later viewage.

With that in mind, shows that were once thought to be losing a lot viewers actually turn out to be getting quite a few. Take The CW's 90210, for example. According to stats, the show jumped 47% among adults 18 to 49 when DVR use over three days is factored in! That's huge!

The same seems to going for shows like Fox's House, ABC's Modern Family and NBC's Community, each getting huge jumps in the ratings after factoring in the DVR.

So think of it this way studio peeps - your show might not be the most popular, but at some point, it is getting watched!

That might mean more to 90210 than it does to Emmy-winning Modern Family, but still!
