It turns out all of our moms were right after all!
New studies suggest that the more TV you watch, the more likely you’ll face health problems and die at an earlier age.
Researchers found that for every two additional hours of time spent watching TV per day increases your risk of getting type 2 diabetes by 20% and your risk of facing heart disease increases by 15%.
Further, for every additional three hours the study participants spent in front of the TV, their risk of dying from any cause during the respective studies increased 13%.
Said Stephen Kopecky, M.D., a cardiologist and professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic:
"[TV watching] is not a good behavior for you no matter where you are in life, whether you're young or old."
So get out from in front of the TV and read a book! Or go for a walk! Just stop watching so much!
