Charleston Church Shooter Dylann Roof Says He'll Do Nothing To Prevent Getting Sentenced To The Death Penalty

no title

It's been two weeks since Dylann Roof was found guilty on all charges against him after murdering nine people at a historically black church in Charleston, and yet the case continues to cause confusion.

That's because at his South Carolina hearing on Wednesday, the 22-year-old white supremacist made it clear to the court he has no intention of challenging his death penalty ruling!

Essentially, Dylann — who is notoriously representing himself — told U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel that he does not plan on using evidence or any witnesses to help his case. Instead, his only request was that prosecutors not be allowed to use some of their evidence against him, although it's currently unclear exactly what he was referring to.

With that said, Dylann has until opening statements next Tuesday to reappoint his attorney(s)… but it's sounding like he may actually want the death penalty at this point.

Why else would he be actively sabotaging his own arguments??

Regardless, we just hope the nine innocent victims and their families get justice in the end.

Charleston Shooter Dylann Roof Found Guilty Of All Charges In Church Massacre

no title

The legal system actually worked this time.

On Thursday, a jury found Dylann Roof guilty of all 33 counts of committing hate crimes after he massacred nine people and tried to kill three more in a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Last year, Roof opened fire at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church during a bible study group.

He was found guilty of the federal charges after undergoing a trial that included testimony from 30 witnesses, a recorded confession, and journal excerpts that prove his deep-seeded hatred for people of color.

The convicted killer will begin the penalty phase of his trial on January 3, in which he has asked to represent himself. Federal prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

These aren't the only charges the mass murderer is facing. The state of South Carolina has slapped him with separate murder charges, and is also seeking the death penalty in relation to those.

That trial will begin on January 17.

South Carolina Church Shooter Dylann Roof's Trial Delayed For A Competency Evaluation

no title

It's unfortunate when justice crawls at a snail's pace.

According to People Magazine, South Carolina church shooter Dylann Roof's trial has been delayed so his mental competency can be evaluated.

As we previously reported, Dylann killed nine African-Americans in June of 2015. Prior to the killings, Roof had expressed white supremacist views which he satisfied by shooting innocent people of color dead.

Now, just as the 22-year-old was set to face thirty-three federal charges related to the crime, his legal team persuaded a judge to have his mental health tested.

A court order connected to the case explained:

"An issue has arisen concerning the Defendant's competency to stand trial. Federal law requires the Court to order a competency evaluation of Defendant and to conduct a hearing on the matter."

Wow… what interesting timing! How convenient for the perp.

Per the doc, Dylann will be evaluated on November 16 and a decision will be announced on the 18.

We'll keep you updated as this case progresses.

Alleged Charleston Church Shooter Dylann Roof Has Pleaded Not Guilty To All Charges

Filed under: Icky Icky PooLegal MattersSad SadViolence

Dylann Roof has pleaded not guilty.

The accused gunman in last month's tragic shooting in Charleston, South Carolina has pleaded not guilty to all federal charges.

According to authorities, Dylann Roof had confessed to shooting and killing nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 18.

The alleged murderer's lawyer admitted that the 21-year-old actually wanted to plead guilty to all 33 federal charges. However, the attorney said he couldn't allow his client to do so.

The counsel explained that he couldn't advise Dylann since the government is still deciding whether or not it will seek the death penalty for his accused crimes.

We hope that whatever the government decides, justice is served on behalf of all the victims and their families. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.
