A Gallup pole of the 52% of American adults who have successfully lost weight at some point in their lives revealed they were more likely to make various dietary changes than try good old fashioned exercise!

Results showed that 31% of those polled named non-specific exercise as their strategy for losing weight, while 23% named non-specifically eating less.

Avoid Anxiety And Stress By Eating Right

Are you constantly in a state of stress? Do you worry a lot and no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to relax? Stress and anxiety robs our body of nutrients needed to help us stay healthy and happy. If you are in a constant state of anxiety, make sure you are not skipping meals. Eat plenty of leafy green veggies, fresh fruits, brown rice, and raw nuts.

Stay hydrated during the day by drinking plenty of water. One of the signs of dehydration is anxiety, so it is important to keep your fluids up. Avoid processed and refined foods full of sugar. Limit your consumption of alcohol and caffeinated beverages. Sip on a cup of chamomile tea to help calm your nerves, especially at night to help you sleep.

Motivating Yourself To Finally Start Eating Right

A FitPerez reader wants to get motivated to lose weight before next summer so she wrote diet author and former Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester for advice, asking:

Hi Ajay,

I love your piece and I was wondering what tips you have to get motivated going into summer. I need a diet jump start ASAP and just struggling to find the motivations! I don't want to spend another summer hiding!

According to Ajay:

The best advice I can give about diet jumpstarts is begin NOW. Not tomorrow or Monday or the start of the next month, just start right now. Make your next meal a healthy one and just act like a healthy person until you become one.

So many people consume excess calories in "this last pasta", "my last junk food meal EVER" or "my last chocolate bar until I'm skinny." One of the things I learnt when losing my own weight was that there was no "last" of anything…..you can have everything you love, just NOT every day.

Another GREAT motivator is to try on some of your favorite summer clothes (or a bikini) and see how much you have to lose to get into it. Then clip a post it note to that item of clothing of the date you plan to fit into it (be realistic) and keep trying them on week after week. There is nothing so motivating as having to lie on the floor using a coathanger and three friends to do up your jeans (I have definitely been there done that!).

Bachelorette Jen Schefft Loses 40 Pounds After Having Her First Child!

Giving birth and welcoming a new child into the world is a WONDERFUL thing. Not-so-wonderful is all the extra weight that is born with it!

Former Bachelorette star Jen Schefft was overjoyed when she had her first child with her husband, Joe Waterman, but after thee months and an extra 45 pounds, she was ready to get back to her pre-baby body!

After getting on the treadmill for the first time since giving birth, she realized the hard road ahead of her, saying:

"I thought I was going to die I didn't realize how out of shape I was."

At her husbands suggestion, she tried Bikram yoga, then focused on eating in moderation as opposed to restriction. The results? Amazing! The reality star explained:

"I dropped 25 pounds right away. Those last 15 took a while and I still have about 5 to go. I want my abs back!"

Keep up what you're doin' and we think you'll have those abs back in no time, Jen!

WNBA Star Cappie Pondexter's Fitness Tips

Hot off of a 2011 ESPY Award nomination and Olympic Gold Medal, WNBA star Cappie Pondexter is only getting hotter!

In the September issue of Shape Magazine, the New York Liberty player — recently voted by fans as one of the Top 15 players in WNBA history — offers tips on relieving stress, eating right, and working out!

The basketball star explained that when she gets hit with an unwanted wave of stress, she hits the gym to clear her mind, saying:

"When I'm feeling stressed, I hit the gym — even if it's 1 in the morning! For me, exercise is the best way to get out aggression and clear my mind. Make time for whatever helps you relax."

What's the most important meal of the day for Cappie? Breakfast of course! The athlete told Shape:

"I always eat breakfast so I have energy for practice. My quick and healthy go-to meals are Raisin Bran with skim milk, and yogurt with fruit."

Want to get in Olympic shape like Cappie? Try her favorite total-body workout which is inspired by a basketball drill!

- Stand with feet hip-width apart; squat.
- Lift arms to shoulder height in front of you, plams up; hold for 30 seconds.
- Bring arms out to sides in a "T"; hold for 30 seconds.
- Raise arms overhead, palms forward; hold for 30 seconds. Repeat!
