When Hattie Garlick was laid off from her newspaper job just five days before Christmas, she and her hubby had to re-evaluate their spending-
Even on their 2-year-old son!
So Hattie has decided to go minimalist, attempting to go an entire year without spending one unnecessary penny.
OK, obviously she can't spend NO money- the kid has to eat! And medicine can't count- this is about cutting unnecessary expenses!
So what are the rules to this whole no spending experiment?

McDonald's profits are finally back up in the fourth quarter ever since their sales slumped a little a few months back.
How'd they bring their numbers back up??

If there is one person that is super happy to hear the National Solar Jobs Census report was released, it is this guy!
Al Gore took to his blog and could not hide his excitement for what the new report's numbers are.
Here's what he wrote:

Somebody must be SERIOUSLY kicking herself for all those times she blanked out on her lines!
After only premiering a month ago on the Broadway stage, Katie Holmes' new play hasn't been as well-received as she probably would have hoped for her first foray back in the game since splitting from Tom Cruise this past summer!
And even though the actress was determined enough to fix the production problems by putting in extra rehearsal hours, it's apparently just not enough…as it was announced today that Dead Accounts will now be closing seven weeks ahead of its initial schedule on January 6th!
Producer Jeffrey Finn says in a statement:

But apparently we are the only ones who want to see President Barack Obama's inauguration for his second term on January 21st.
The public has decided that this second term isn’t as
important interesting as his first one and, well, it looks like they aren’t rushing to book trips to the D.C. area.
Only about 800,000 people are expected this time around.
Whoa! We thought no one was going!
Okay, okay…considering he had

McDonald's has always been a fast food powerhouse! A titan of industry!
But their sales actually fell in October!
That's the first monthly drop in almost a decade!
Global sales at restaurants open at least a year fell 1.8% in October. The last time something like this happened was 2003.
The weakened economy, and more competition are to blame for the drop.
Though we feel it could be something else too…

America has spoken and Mitt Romney has been DE-NIED!
Barack Obama will remain in the Oval Office as President of the United States of America and we couldn't be happier.
Not only is the economy slowly creeping toward recovery, but his administration has made leaps and bounds for the LGBT community over the last four years, so we can't see what kind of equality is right around the corner.
With Ohio being awarded to the POTUS at around 11:15, Barack Obama will serve another term!
Congrats, Mr. President!
