Russell Crowe Is Going To Suck….Blood As Dracula!

Russell Crowe playing dracula

As pop culture's fascination with vampires continues, so does Russell Crowe's career.

The Oscar winner is reportedly playing the most famous blood sucker of them all in a Twilight reboot reimagining of Bram Stoker's Dracula!

Harker follows Jonathan Harker — a Scotland Yard detective in this update — as he tracks down the evil count who sleeps during the day and stalks his victims at night. Warner Bros. is hoping to start filming next year and is currently in talks with Eli Roth to direct.

If they want a bloody horror movie, the guy who helmed Cabin Fever and Hostel is certainly the man to go to. However, it sounds like the studio may be innerested in more of an action pic. Sources say, "the script sets up the sleuth as a potential new franchise character."

Sounds like a supernatural version of Sherlock Holmes to us.

Russell Crowe And Lucy Liu Rumble With The Man With The Iron Fists

We'll admit it. When we first heard Wu-Tang Clan co-founder RZA was directing Russell Crowe in a kung fu epic called The Man With The Iron Fists, we were a little skeptical.

However, all it takes is one awesome trailer (above) to change our minds and now we're hooked.

The music producer-turned-actor-turned-director has most recently demonstrated his ability to carry a scene in the last season of Californication, but now he's demonstrating his ability to construct a scene from behind the camera.

Since he co-wrote the upcoming martial arts flick with Eli Roth and got Quentin Tarantino to produce it, we've got lots of faith it will deliver. In fact, it's even got a Kill Bill vibe, but looks a little more supernatural and perhaps even a little more ridiculous.

From what we can gather, Lucy Liu, Crowe and WWE Superstar David Bautista are three of seven warriors fighting each other for a butt ton of gold passing through a small village in China.

On top of all the intense action sequences, the film promises lots of good music to back it up since Kanye West, The Black Keys, Wu-Tang and Wiz Khalifa all recorded new music for the soundtrack.

Eli Roth Tests People For Evil On Discovery Channel Show

Eli Roth Science

Eli Roth, one of the newest of the famous horror movie directors (Cabin Fever, Hostel) has been enlisted by the Discovery Channel to recreate Stanley Milligram's famous experiment to see if people would shock other people just because a scientist told them to.

Hint: the did. And the upped the power consistently too just because of the authority figure. Creepy!

This sparked (pun intended) a fascination with Eli, and he explains:

“I’ve always been fascinated by what people do. It comes from my Jewish upbringing and so much Holocaust education. My dad’s books were like “The Nazi Doctors” and at dinner, my dad would be like, ‘The Nazis did this and that,’ and you think, ‘How did this happen? How can people do this?' I remember seeing footage from the Milligram experiment where people were shocking each other because a scientist told them to, it just showed what people will do when there is an authority figure telling them to do something horrible.”

Not only did Eli test a bunch of different kinds of people, but he also tested himself — to extensive brain testing, scans, and full genetic sequencing on his DNA — to see if he has what's called the "evil gene."

“I don’t think there is an actual thing that is ‘evil,’ and I do not believe ‘evil’ exists and it’s completely your point of view. To one group, a suicide bomber is the anti-Christ and to another group, they’re a hero and a saint. There are certainly acts that are unquestionably evil acts, but the reasons most people do them is that they truly believe that they are right, and it is for some kind of greater good, or they feel totally justified doing it. What was most disturbing to find out was that it was exactly the same, most people would still shock someone to death if an authoritative figure tells them to do so. The tension of sitting there watching people continually shock people at greater and greater voltages, hearing the other person scream and knowing they are in pain or have a heart condition, and watching them keep going, was one of the scariest things. But at the same time, as humans I understand we need authority in our society. We need to see the policeman on the corner, or to know if there is a fire, there’s a fire truck. We listen to our teachers and we have to have authoritative figures for society to work and function, but it does come to a point where it is more of a parlor trick than a scientific experiment.”

So bizarrely interesting what people will do under authority. It might have the same exact results as Milligram's tests, but Eli is a charming dude to listen to and it'd be kinda engrossing to see it all play out — so if you want to, catch it on the Discovery Channel this Sunday!

Hostel: Part III Heads To Vegas!

Hopefully this new group of victims is able to at least catch a good show before the horror begins! Maybe Elton??? LOLz.

Check out the newly released trailer (above) for Hostel: Part III, the direct-to-DVD threequel in the ultra-violent horror franchise.

While Eli Roth may not be involved with this one, we took a gander at IMDB, and here are a few elements that this flick has got going for it:

Get Ready To Puke Scream! Eli Roth's Hostel Is Getting The Theme Park Treatment!

eli roth bringing hostel to universal studios hollywood

This sounds like a delightfully terrifying way to spend your Halloween!

Horror director Eli Roth is going to scare the SHIZ out of everybody who visits Universal Studios in Hollywood this October, because he's been offered the opportunity to create a maze based on his 2005 torture-porn-horror-flick Hostel.

The maze will be called Hostel: Hunting Season, and it will be one of the main attractions at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights.

Here's what Eli had to say about it:

Eli Roth And Richard Kelly Team Up For Horror Flick!

eli-roth-and-richard-kelly-collaborating-on-horror-film

Having seen what these two minds are capable on their own, we are nervously excited for what they're going to come up with together!

Filmmaker Richard Kelly will reportedly be writing and directing a new horror film, along with Eli Roth producing, called Corpus Christi!

The flick is being described as a 'contemporary thriller' that will focus on "a mentally unstable Iraq war veteran…who forges a strange friendship with his boss…the wealthy and politically ambitious owner of a supermarket chain."

Strange plot for a horror flick! But we imagine it's going to become severely effed up pretty quickly!

Looking forward to seeing how this one develops!

Thoughts??

Russell Crowe Confirmed For RZA's Kung-Fu Film

russell crowe confirmed for kung fu movie

Back in September, we learned that RZA thought Russell Crowe would be perfect for his Kung-Fu Film, and we were skeptical.

Now, it looks like Crowe is confirmed to be starring in writer/director RZA's The Man with the Iron Fist, and we are still pretty skeptical.

According to IMDB, filming has already begun on the Kung-Fu flick, which has been co-written by Eli Roth, and is being produced by Quentin Tarantino, among others.

Looks like Crowe and RZA will play "inhabitants of Feudal China who are 'forced to defend themselves,' presumably against Kung-Fu warriors."

Guess we'll see if Russell Crowe is up for some hardcore, old-school Kung-Fu.

Did we mention we're skeptical?
