Ellie Goulding Gets Real About Her Ongoing Battle With Anxiety — 'I Felt Like I Was Dying Of A Heart Attack'

In a piece for Stylist magazine, Ellie opened up on her difficult battle with anxiety disorder. The brave interview comes on the heels of Ms. Goulding taking a month off from touring after being diagnosed with exhaustion in July.
Now that the singer is doing a bit better (she's currently promoting her song for Bridget Jones's Baby), she was able to discuss what trigged her emotional slump.
According to the hit maker, constant touring and being overly "emotionally aware" put her in a very vulnerable position:
"Since I was young I remember being quite emotionally aware. I could tune in to how I was feeling and understand if I was being irrational, or understand if I was overthinking something. Overthinking can destroy you. I was diagnosed with exhaustion a couple of months back, but it's only now that I realise how bad it really was. When I think back to my tiredness, my slump, not wanting to exercise and not being interested in anything… It wasn't depression, it was just my body giving up."
Well, overthinking often leads to anxiety… it's unfortunately pretty common!
