Looks like his Blurred Lines are about to become clearer to a judge!

In August, Robin Thicke and Pharrell filed a preemptive lawsuit against Marvin Gaye's family, telling them to slow their role with copyright infringement claims!

Unfortunately, the iconic singer's living parts just want to Give It To You, Robin—in the form of a court case!

The famjam filed a counterclaim yesterday, that alleges Thickeyy copied both "Got to Give It Up" (for "Blurred Lines") and "After the Dance" (for "Love After War").

The suit highlights multiple interviews where the seksi singer admits Marvin's singles provided inspiration, even addressing how critics compared the songs similar sounds!

DING DING DING!

It's about to get musically bloody all up in this ring!

We can't wait for the courthouse TKO to play out in full!

P.S. Want to hear the songs they're suing over?!

Smashing Pumpkins Reissuing Classic Albums

Billy Corgan for sale

A.K.A. every album they've already released! Ha!

The popular 90's alternative-rock band Smashing Pumpkins is kicking off a three-year program this fall by releasing expanded versions of their breakthrough album Siamese Dream, followed by Gish, and Pisces Iscariot.

Sound familiar? Go check your CD collection because you probably already have them, BUT in case you missed the grunge era, this is a great chance to catch up on your rock history!

The band's frontman and only original member, Billy Corgan, made the announcement with EMI Music on Tuesday.

In what he calls a "groundbreaking deal", Corgan says the band will have full control of the unreleased materials, explaining:

"What makes the deal with EMI groundbreaking is the band has secured the right to all unreleased materials and will be in charge of any additional releases based on our discretion. In essence, the band has the keys to the warehouse and can release whatever we want, when we want it."

Good for them! It's nice to see the musicians holding the power instead of the record company.

Next year, Corgan will reissue the 1995 double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the 5-disc boxed set The Aeroplane Flies High, and Adore.

Could this be the beginning of the return of 90's rock? Will Alanis Morissette follow, with Chumbawumba not far behind? Ha!

Are U excited to hear that the Smashing Pumpkins will reissue the old albums?

Macca Gives Beatles Remixers His Blessing

macca is cool with beatles remixers

For those of you who have been contemplating mashing up The Beatles and Britney Spears, but have been too scared, don't worry! Paul McCartney doesn't mind. Hold It Against The Sky With Diamonds can finally become a reality!!!

Despite all types of dramz between EMI and Danger Mouse for his 2006 bootleg Beatles Mash-up The Grey Album, Macca has made it clear that he doesn't have any problem with people remixing The Beatles:

“I didn’t mind when something like that happened with the Grey Album, but the thing was the record company minded. They didn’t like that and they put up a bit of a fuss. But it was like, take it easy guys, it’s a tribute.”

More from Macca:

“There’s so many covers of Beatles songs, whether they are musically good or not, as a composer it’s a tribute. There are certain versions that stand out. Most of the black artists, people like Marvin Gaye (Yesterday) and Ray Charles (Eleanor Rigby). The best thing is having your song regurgitated by someone incredible and thinking, wow, did we write that?”

Right on, Paul! We'll remember that you said this when we're mixing your Beatles with Nicki Minaj.

Sgt. Roman's Lonely Hearts Club Band, anyone???

Citigroup Purchases EMI…But Will They Sell Them?

citigroup acquires emi

US Bank Citigroup has acquired EMI, and they've already reduced massive company debts by 65%…but is it because they care, or are they prepping themselves to sell off the company?

Here's what EMI CEO Roger Faxon had to say about it:

"[It's an] extremely positive step for the company. It has given us one of the most robust balance sheets in the industry with a modest level of debt and substantial liquidity. With that solid footing, we are confident in our ability to drive our business forward."

But will a sell off take place? Looks like BMG and Warner are innerested, so it def could happen.

Here's what a Citigroup insider had to say about the situation:

"[Citi] has already been in talks with all the relevant majors about selling off the various parts of the company.”

More from the EMI CEO:

“We have already made great progress in meeting the challenges facing our industry. The closer alliance between our two operating divisions is already delivering impressive results on behalf of the creative talent we are privileged to represent. We have a clear vision for the future, a strong and committed management team, and now the right capital and financial structure in place to deliver successful outcomes for artists and songwriters.”

Hmm…we're hearing some conflicting things here. Guess we'll see if Citigroup keeps EMI around, or if they do in fact sell 'em off.

Thoughts???

Pink Floyd's Albums Taken Offline!

Uh, oh!

Many of Pink Floyd's albums have been taken off the Internet after a distribution deal with their record label ran out.

The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here and The Final Cut have all been removed from online digital stores because the contract with EMI expired on June 30.

The band's reps are working on securing a new deal to bring the albums back for digitial downloads.
