Oscars Envelope Screw-Up Explained! And The Color Scheme Is To Blame???

Envelope Gate won't die!

This drama won't end!

#EnvelopeGate continues with more explanations as to exactly what went wrong during the Best Picture announcement at the 89th annual Oscars Sunday night in Los Angeles.

At this point we all know Warren Beatty was handed the wrong envelope (the Best Actress one to be exact) and that Faye Dunaway mistakenly called out La La Land as the winner.

Well, the reason for that is because there were two Best Actress envelopes. One was in Emma Stone's possession, while the other was mistakenly given to Mr. Beatty.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the accounting firm that oversees the envelopes, now explains that two of their reps, Martha Ruiz and Brian Cullinan, were stationed on both sides of the stage. Both also had their own briefcase containing envelopes of all the winners.

Ruiz handed off the Best Actress envelope when it was time to announce the award, the penultimate of the night, and then immediately following that, when Best Picture was about to be announced, Cullinan also handed off his duplicate of the Best Actress envelope. OOPS!!!

Another explanation also lies in the fact that

He had one job… we think.

Everyone is still trying to get down to the bottom of the biggest mystery in Hollywood right now: how did Warren Beatty get the envelope for Best Actress when presenting Best Picture at the Oscars?

Well, it looks like the blame is now being pointed at Brian Cullinan (pictured above, right), none other than an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The firm that handles the votes and envelopes for the Academy Awards already issued a statement on the mishap, saying they would be launching an investigation into the live blunder.

And apparently, the head they're offering up is Cullinan, a veteran who has been with the firm for 30 years.

According to reports, Brian was supposed to discard the duplicate Best Actress envelope and hand Beatty Best Picture, but got a bit distracted from all the glitz and glamor backstage.

Brian's Twitter page shows further evidence that he was in La La Land when he was supposed to be prepping for the final category.

The tweets have since been deleted, but a picture of Emma Stone and her Oscar was screenshotted from his page:

Moonlight & La La Land's Casts & Crews React To That INSANE Oscars Mix-Up!

Wow, our jaws are still on the floor following that very embarrassing Oscars mix-up for Best Picture!

After La La Land was mistakenly called instead of Moonlight for winning the biggest award of the night, the casts from both films have taken a moment to react to the unprecedented snafu.

The newly minted Best Supporting Actor winner Mahershala Ali says that he wasn't surprised at all when Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone's film received the accolade:

"La La Land has done so well and it's resonated with so many people, especially in this time when people need a sense of buoyancy in their life. That film has really impacted people in a very different way than Moonlight, so when their name was read, I wasn't surprised — I was really happy for them. It's a group of really extraordinary people."

He went on:

"When I did see security or people coming out on stage and their moment was being disrupted in some way, I got really worried. And then when they said Moonlight wins, it just threw me a bit. It threw me more than a bit! I just didn't want to go up there and take something from somebody. It's very hard to feel joy in a moment like that, but I feel very fortunate for all of us to have walked away with the Best Picture award. It's pretty remarkable."

Ugh, we hate this amazing cast and crew didn't get their big moment!

Moonlight director Barry Jenkins added he doesn't have any hard feelings about what went down:
