How Will Harambe's Death Affect The Other Cincinnati Zoo Gorillas? See What An Expert Has To Say!

Gorillas are remarkably similar to humans, which means they cope with loss the same way we do.

This rings especially true for the remaining gorillas living at the Cincinnati Zoo, who experts say will need emotional support in the wake of the death of 17-year-old silverback gorilla Harambe on Saturday.

Dr. Penny Patterson — co-founder of The Gorilla Foundation — says the great apes could face a "classic sort of human depression" following the tragic loss.

The animal psychologist began her studies in 1972 with a 1-year-old western lowland gorilla Koko, who used sign language to express her grief after suffering multiple losses over the years.

An Endangered Baby Dolphin Was Killed When Tourists Passed It Around For Selfies

We are absolutely sick to our stomach!

Last week in the resort town of Santa Teresita, Argentina, beachgoers picked up a Franciscana dolphin from the ocean and passed it around for selfies.

The foot-long animal — which cannot survive long out of water — was eventually killed due to overheating and dehydration.

Video footage shows the dolphin dying on the ground, laying motionless.

The species — also known as La Plata dolphins — can only be found in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil, and can only inhabit saltwater.

They are categorized as "vulnerable" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species, and has a population of under 30,000.

Once video of the horrific incident began circulating, the Argentine Wildlife Foundation (AWF) quickly condemned the swimmers.

"This incident should serve to remind people about the need to return these dolphins to the sea if one is found outside of the water… It's fundamental that people help rescue these animals because every Franciscan has value."

Not surprisingly, people took to Twitter to vent their outrage

We think they're worth saving!

One of the first species to EVER be protected by the Endangered Species Act is the Devils Hole pupfish.

However these days there are less than a frickin' hundred of the rare species left in the entire world!!!

And while many do not believe there is a reason for the U.S. to keep spending money to protect this fish - at least one journalist named Jason Bittel believes otherwise!

Here's what he recently wrote

Everyone except poachers, at least.

Because of poaching, it's predicted that rhinos will be extinct by 2020. That's only 6 years away.

White and black rhinos are being slaughtered at an alarming rate, with only
