Fox To Bring A Priest To TV

father albert coming to fox

This summer, Fox TV stations and Debmar-Mercury will test a one-hour "talker" show with Father Alberto Cutie, who left the Catholic Church to get married and have a family, and is now a priest at an Episcopal Church.

Here's what a statement by Debmar-Mercury had to say about the show:

"Father Albert's wide cross-over appeal, incredible story, encouraging advice, open mind and charismatic personality make him a natural fit for daytime television. We are excited to provide English-language audiences with the opportunity to discover why Father Albert has struck such a chord over the past decade with millions of fans throughout the U.S., Canada, Spain and Latin America."

And here's what a Fox Television Group statement had to say about the program:

"This really completes our roster with Debmar-Mercury: Tyler Perry, Wendy Williams, South Park, Jeremy Kyle and, now, a minister. Seriously, daytime television could use a fresh face and a distinctive voice. We believe we've found one in Father Albert Cutie, whose unique perspective makes him perfect for this role."

We can't say we're surprised that Fox would make a move like this.

Guess we'll see if Father Albert brings in the audiences. We're thinking he probs will.

Would U watch a priest on TV?

Openly Gay Bishop Announces Plans To Retire Due To Public Backlash!

This is just so unfortunate.

Bishop V. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, announced to the Disocese of New Hampshire that he will be stepping down from his position in 2013, due to the public's backlash against him for his sexual preference!

During his announcement in a speech to his congregation on Saturday, he explained:

"The fact is, the last seven years have taken their toll on me, my family and you. Death threats, and the now-worldwide controversy surrounding your election of me as bishop have been a constant strain, not just on me, but on my beloved husband, Mark. New Hampshire is always the place I remain, simply, 'the bishop.' This is the one place on earth where I am not 'the gay bishop.' I believe that you elected me because you believed me to be the right person to lead you at this time. The world has sometimes questioned that, but I hope you never did."

Such an unbelievable shame, but we can understand why that kind of constant hatred and bigotry would be too much for someone - even if he is a bishop!

We're proud of him for being brave enough in the first place to accept the position, and paving the way for other Episcopalians and Anglicans to take on positions of power in the church, despite sexual preference!

All Hail The First Lesbian Bishop!

This Saturday marked a significant step for homosexuals and the church. For the first time EVER, a lesbian had been ordained as a bishop in Los Angeles!

The Rev. Canon Mary Glasspool of Baltimore was ordained and consecrated before 3,000 people in the Long Beach area this weekend, making her the second openly gay biship in church history as well as one of the first two female bishops of the Episcopal Church.

Amazing! Congrats!

Long overdue, if you ask us!
