Cameras and cell phones were not allowed inside the service, which was attended by the likes of Erykah Badu and Lil Yachty, but many took to social to say goodbye to the artist (real name Jahseh Onfroy).

Erykah Badu Responds To Critics Blasting Her For Those Hitler Comments: 'I Was Just Using My Own Brain'

no title

Erykah Badu doesn't care if you're mad at her… just don't call her "problematic."

The singer was gassed by Twitter this week over an interview with Vulture where she said she sees the good in everyone — including Bill Cosby and Hitler.

Badu's point was that people shouldn't rush to anger as society so masterfully does these days, and instead should think with a more empathetic mind and draw our own conclusions. But she still said she "saw something good in Hitler."

Many blasted the Appletree songstress for her comments, seeing empathy for Hitler as "problematic" in a society where racism and anti-Semitism are so prevalent. But when Badu responded the next day, she emphasized that only those who read the ENTIRE article understood her "message of compassion."

In response to the backlash, the 46-year-old admitted she used "one of the worst examples possible" to illustrate extreme compassion to others. Still, she encouraged fans to say what they feel — unless it involves the word "problematic." (It's a word for dummies, she says!)

See what Badu had to say to the Twitics (below)!

Erykah Badu Says She 'Saw Something Good In Hitler' & Twitter Loses Its SHIT!

no title

If Erykah Badu has a struggle, it's her undying empathy for all of humanity: the good, the bad, and the leader of the Nazi party.

In a wide ranging interview with Vulture, the eccentric musician admitted she had an unpopular opinion when it came to society's rush to crucify artists like Bill Cosby or Louis C.K..

Noting that she doesn't want to be scared out of thinking for herself, Badu said she would have to weigh all the facts of a situation before reaching a judgement — but maintained that anger would never be the outcome. She explained:

"If [Bill Cosby is] sick, why would I be angry with him? The people who got hurt, I feel so bad for them. I want them to feel better, too. But sick people do evil things; hurt people hurt people."

Badu's "humanist" philosophy applies to ALL evil people. Like, even the ones who were largely responsible for the deaths of over 11 million innocent people.

Speaking on her commitment to "see all sides simultaneously," as opposed to instinctually choosing sides like most of us do, the Appletree singer said she sees "good in everybody," adding:

"I saw something good in Hitler."

*Record Scratch* Um… wut?

Here's how the exchange — with Jewish interviewer David Marchese — went down after that:

Sorry, OutKast, Ooooh! Erykah Badu Reveals What The REAL Ms. Jackson Thought Of The Duo's Famous Apology Song!

no title

This is for real!

While you undoubtedly know all the words to OutKast's 2000 smash hit Ms. Jackson, far fewer of our Perezcious readers probably know who the song is really about.

Luckily, it's a small, small world out here in Hollywood… which is why Erykah Badu actually has an update about the IRL Miss Jackson!

As you may know, the 2016 Soul Train Music Awards host just so happens to have a 19-year-old son with André 3000 — and while they're mature enough to collaborate nowadays, that wasn't exactly the case 16 years ago!

Apparently, after their tumultuous breakup, André (with the help of his partner Big Boi) felt it was necessary to apologize to Erykah's mom Kolleen Maria Wright (aka Ms. Jackson herself) for how he handled things with her daughter after the birth of his son Seven Sirius Benjamin.

Luckily for Outkast, it doesn't sound like Kolleen holds a grudge… because Erykah just admitted to Rap Radar late last week that her momma was actually a fan of the song, saying:

Beyoncé & Others Win Big At The 2016 Soul Train Music Awards — See The Entire Winners List & Best Performance Of The Night!

We're getting déjà vu!

As you may recall, Beyoncé celebrated her 35th birthday with a Soul Train-themed party nearly three months ago… but that train only just now left the station.

That's because Queen Bey was the big winner at Sunday's 2016 Soul Train Music Awards, winning FOUR of the night's biggest categories!

As if being the most honored attendee at the Erykah Badu-hosted event wasn't impressive enough… Beyoncé did so by snatching Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year, AND Best R&B/Soul Female Artist (for Lemonade and Formation) from her musical competitors.

But while the BET and Centric presentation was basically just a B bash, she wasn't the only celebrated celeb!

Best New Artist Chance the Rapper and best dancers Kanye West and Teyana Taylor made sure to snag some hardware themselves… just not quite as much as Beyoncé.

Ch-ch-check out the entire winners list (below)!!!

Erykah Badu Is Donating Her Concert Proceeds To Help Clear An 11,000-Case Backlog Of Untested Rape Kits!

no title

This is an incredible cause — and it just proves the power of celebrity in helping to push an issue to the forefront!

Back in 2009 in Michigan, more than 11,300 rape kits were found abandoned in a Detroit Police Department storage unit, and the evidence therein of womens' rapes by all sorts of unknown perpetrators was left completely ignored and untouched.

Since then, the Michigan Women's Foundation and a group called Enough SAID have put together something called the African American 490 Challenge in an effort to raise money to get every single one of those rape kits fully tested in an effort to find justice for the victims (each kit costs $490 to test, hence the project's name).

Now, Erykah Badu is joining in the fight in the BEST way, and she deserves a lot of credit for quite literally putting her money where her mouth is!

The singer is hosting a concert at Detroit's Chene Park Amphitheater on August 12, the proceeds of which she will be donating to AA490 in an effort to get as many of those kits tested as possible!!

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy — who worked alone for years trying in vain to find justice for the thousands of female victims — was ecstatic about the news, saying:
