Orlando Bloom stole almost every action sequence in The Lord of the Rings as the badass elf Legolas Greenleaf, but he may have some competition in The Hobbit from Evangeline Lilly.
The Lost star is playing a “true Sylvan Elf” named Tauriel. She's not from any of J.R.R. Tolkien's source material, but in Peter Jackson, we trust, and her character sounds pretty cool.
Lilly described the newest addition to the Hobbit universe by saying:

That's for Paramount and director Kenneth Branagh to decide!
You see, Jack Ryan — the book smart yet action-capable CIA superstar from a whole slew of Tom Clancy novels — needs himself a wife for a few upcoming films.
Keira Knightley is now the front-runner to land the three-picture deal playing the female lead, but nothing is set in stone.
Freckles Evangeline Lilly and Felicity Jones are also waiting in the wings. We admit, those are pretty effin' sexy plan Bs!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey just screened at CinemaCon 2012 and responses were lukewarm at best.
It was only a 10 minute clip of Peter Jackson’s HIGHly anticipated sequel to last decade’s box-office destroying Lord of the Rings trilogy but some fans were left upset and betrayed.
Many of the complaints surrounded a needless conversion to 3-D, saying it looked like video or generally unfinished.

Attention J.R.R. Tolkien fans - this one is legit!
If any of you are concerned that Evangeline Lilly isn't up to the task of joining The Hobbit world, consider this:
Shortly after giving birth - which lasted 30 hours - Evangeline was on a plane to New Zealand to start shooting with Peter Jackson and Co. She jumped right into training with the experts, learning everything from stunts or traditions and yes, even the language!
Check out her appearance on The Tonight Show to hear more of how Evangeline learned to become an elf - and how her baby felt about the transition!

We were excited for Evangeline Lilly when she got cast in The Hobbit!
But now she's beginning to have second thoughts on her role and how it will play out with the heavy Lord of the Rings fan base.

Just a month after announcing her pregnancy, Lost star Evangeline Lilly has given birth to a bouncing baby boy!
This is the first child for her and boyfriend Norman Kali, who worked as a production assistant on Lost.
After expressing that she wanted to take some time off after the ABC show went off the air, looks like Evangeline wasted no time in stepping away from the spotlight and starting a family.
We wonder if the little guy has freckles too! LOLz!
Congrats to the new mommy and daddy!
