Animal Rights Activists To Take Action Against Anyone Who Tries To Transfer Beagles From Sweden To The UK!

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueAnimal RightsDogCrazzzzyBeagle

This is NOT gonna be pretty!

A HUGE pharmaceutical company named AstraZeneca is planning on moving beagles from Sweden to the UK to test for new medicines… but animal rights activists are NOT gonna let that happen!!

The move is supposedly going to be clean and easy, but just knowing that a whole mess of doggies are gonna be shipped off just to be tested on doesn't sit well with the animal lovers.

In hopes to smooth things over, an AstraZeneca spokeswoman said:

Woody Harrelson was the driving force behind an initiative to get the army to stop using chimps in their experiments.

Now he has set his sights on California Senator Barbara Boxer, the chair of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

He wrote her a letter on PETA's behalf, asking her to join the over 160 senators and representatives who support the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act.

These acts would stop the use of chimps and other great apes in testing in the U.S. and save tax payers millions.

An excerpt from the letter reads:

Victory! 80 Monkeys Saved From Being Sent To Laboratory

80-monkeys-saved-from-china-airlines.jpg

Earlier, we told you about how PETA was fighting to stop 80 monkeys from being transported on China Southern Airlines to the U.S.

These unfortunate monkeys were going to be experimented on in Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories (SNBL) and Harlan Laboratories.

Thousands of e-mails were sent and hundreds of phone calls were made to the airline's L.A. office - and we're proud to say that PETA has won the battle. The airline has called off its plans to to ship the 80 monkeys.

Many animals, including monkeys, end up being subjected to cruel experiments every day. This is one small step in winning the fight against such horrible acts.

Way to go, PETA!

Lea Michele's Fights For Chimp's Rights

Lea Michele's Fights For Chimp Rights

So Inspiring!

Lea Michele is begging the US government to help Cammy, a chimpanzee being used in invasive experiments in a San Antonio laboratory.

Michele wrote a letter to the director to the National Institutes of Health saying:

“Cammy, one of the 14 chimpanzees moved to this Texas lab, was taken from her mom the day she was born. She was first traumatically sedated with powerful chemicals when she was only 6 months old. Chimpanzee experimentation raises some obvious ethical issues, and there are also clear scientific problems. That’s why most countries around the world no longer permit harmful research on chimpanzees.”

The Glee star wants all of these chimpanzees—who have been labeled the San Antonio 14—to be spared experimentation and sent to a sanctuary.

PETA Is Not Happy With The University Of Texas

Filed under: Sad SadPETAAnimal RightsAnimal Cruelty

PETA Is not happy with UT

This is out right animal cruelty!

An insider at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) has contacted PETA to report that the school has subjected sheep, pigs, and mice to third-degree burns on up to 40 percent of their bodies and forced the animals to inhale smoke from burning cotton.

UTMB experimenters also intentionally caused spinal cord and sciatic nerve injuries in sheep. One sheep who was subjected to back surgery reportedly could not stand for three days following the surgery and was given no pain relief.

PETA's scorse accuses UTMB of the following:

> UTMB faculty members cut open dogs and surgically implanted tubes into their colons for irritable bowel experiments. One dog reportedly died during surgery, and another died in pain following surgery when staff members did not provide anesthetics and were apparently unable to use the monitoring equipment correctly.

> A macaque monkey—a highly-social being for whom social contact is necessary to maintain physical and mental health—was confined by herself to a stainless steel cage in a room where she had no contact with and no opportunity to see or hear other nonhuman primates.

> Several sheep and one pig suffered serious injuries, including a broken leg and trauma so severe that it caused one sheep's intestines to penetrate her chest cavity.

> Mice died, most likely as a result of dehydration, after staff members failed to notice that the animals did not have access to water.

Think this is wrong? You can do something about it.

Endangered Sea Turtles To Be Killed After Experiments

Sea Turtles To Be Killed

Ridiculous!

Is killing an endangered species ever justified?

A University of B.C. research team plans to kill seven endangered turtles after their research is complete, and they are defending their actions.

The research project studies why the turtles die when caught in fishing nets nets. After the observations are complete, researchers plan to "put down" the turtles with anesthesia.

UBC says they need to put down the turtles for three reasons:

First - the turtles are legally prohibited from being released into the wild. Due to their long time in captivity, they could infect other animals with parasites or bacteria.

Second - nearby aquariums aren't open to taking the sea turtles because they require a large living space.

Lastly- Milsom explains that part of the turtle experiment is to harvest their tissues.

Ultimately, it seems the group is killing the sea turtles because they simply don't have anywhere else to put them. Anyone can see that there are other options still available.

There is no reason these endangered turtles should be killed!
