Here's Why The Flash's Grant Gustin Couldn't Be In Batman V Superman!

Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is only a few days away from being released and we're getting more and more excited for the superhero team up.

We already knew that the film will feature both Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as the caped crusader, as well as Gal Gadot's highly anticipated introduction as Wonder Woman, but there are some other heroes showing up too!

Not only is Ray Fisher popping up as Cyborg, but Jason Mamoa will have an appearance as Aquaman, as will Ezra Miller's The Flash!

But wait, don't we already have a Flash in Grant Gustin thanks to the CW's hit show??

Ever since Miller's casting was announced though, there's been a question about why the studio didn't try and link the television universe — The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, DC Legends of Tomorrow — to what they were doing cinematically.

While plenty of stars have spoken about the issue including Gustin and Arrow's Stephen Amell, Snyder finally opened up about why he didn't cast Gustin, saying:

Batman better watch out for flying cymbals!

Zack Snyder's latest casting addition for his Justice League movie might give fans a bit of Whiplash — as it's been reported that J.K. Simmons has been cast as Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming film!

The Oscar winner will play the Gotham City police commissioner in the two-part action flick — joining Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), who team up Avengers style to defeat whatever evils come their way!

Obviously, this won't be the first comic book character Simmons has portrayed on the big screen — the actor played fast-talking publisher J. Jonah Jameson in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies.

Fans had been hoping he would reprise his role in the upcoming reboot, but with this new part we're guessing that's off the table…

But the 61-year-old isn't the first actor to make the jump from Marvel to DC Comics and star as more than one comic book hero! Find out which other stars have donned multiple superhero costumes (below)!
