As we mentioned last month, Amy Winehouse's collection for Fred Perry was on hold despite Amy having completed at least three more collections before her death.
The label stated they were holding off until they spoke with Amy’s family and management. And now we finally have an answer.
Fred Perry stated on Monday that it plans to release the fall 2011 and wholesale the spring 2012 collections.
The label added in a statement:
“Amy was passionate and dedicated to the collaboration, and her signature style is clearly stamped across each piece. Amy’s royalties and fees from both collections will be donated to the soon-to-be-established Amy Winehouse Foundation. Fred Perry will also make a seasonal donation to the Foundation.”
Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, also commented, stating:
"When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new collection it was natural to continue. Amy loved working on both collections, and would want them to be made available. All the money we make and the donation that Fred Perry will give will go straight into to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which we are setting up to help children and young people in her name.”
So sad, yet so amazing that they are starting a foundation and the collection will benefit it.
