The charity walk will be held in more than 35 North American cities this Fall to raise funds to support the organization’s life-saving work AND promote kindness towards animals.

Agriculture Industry Pushes To Make Undercover Filming Of Farm Animal Abuse Illegal

Farm Animal Abuse

Iowa's agriculture industry is upset at the repeated releases of secretly filmed videos claiming to show the mistreatment of farm animals.

Now the agg industry is pushing legislation that would make it illegal for animal rights activists to produce and distribute such images.

Agriculture committees in the Iowa House and Senate have approved a bill that would prohibit such recordings and punish people who take agriculture jobs only to gain access to animals to record their treatment.

Proposed penalties? Fines of up to $7,500 and up to five years in prison.

"They're trying to intimidate whistleblowers and put a chill on legitimate anti-cruelty investigations. Clearly the industry feels that it has something to hide or it wouldn't be going to these extreme and absurd lengths,"

said Bradley Miller, national director of the Humane Farming Association. Jeff Kerr, general counsel for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, agrees. He says the Iowa legislation is misguided, at best.

"They're trying to criminalize someone being an eye witness to a crime. The people who do the very difficult job of documenting that criminal conduct should be applauded."

This bill will only hurt the American public and help the agriculture industry.

This bill will only pass if Iowa's Senators give in to bribes or pressure from the industry.

Justin Gives

So proud!

Justin Beiber auctioned off a blonde lock from his unfortunately famous haircut - for an outrageous $40K!!!

Instead of spending the money on a dozen X-Boxes or American Apparel hoodies Biebs donated all the money to a worthy cause.

Gentle Barn Foundation is a sanctuary for animals that have been severely abused, neglected and left to suffer on their own. The group currently houses 130 farm animals on their property in Santa Clarita.

The founders of Gentle Barn, work with children from the inner city, group homes, mental health care facilities, foster homes, and schools to

"teach them that even though we are all different on the outside, on the inside we are all the same and are deserving of the same rights, respects and freedom.”

Great choice Justin!

They grow up so fast…

Pennsylvania Man Fined For Goats

Man fined for goats in city limits

A small business owner in Jeannette, PA, outside of Pittsburgh is fighting citations for having 4 goats within city limits.

Frank Trigona, owner of Jeannette Italian Store, ignored 5 citations and even appeared in front of a judge where he was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine, which he plans on appealing.

He says he first "hired" the goats to cut his grass, but now thinks of them as his friends. He told reporters:

"I just like animals. Is there a problem with that? They're friendly. They do a job for me."

We don't think so at all, but unfortunately city officials like Jeannette Solicitor Scott Avolio think differently, saying:

"The city is facing a lot of matters that have more importance than this. This is kind of a nuisance interruption that needs to be dealt with. But for whatever reason, it seems to get some entertainment value and attention."

Maybe because Frank named the goats after city officials and marched them in last years Halloween parade. The goats even have a Facebook fan page with over 2,000 fans.

We're with you, Frank, and think the city officials are the REAL nuisance here. Some rules are meant to be broken and nless these animals are particularly damaging the city in some way, just let the man have his goats!
