Holy Cow!! Who Moved My Cows???

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueCrazzzzyCowFarm

How does a person steal 18 cows in the middle of the day??

Connecticut farmer Ledyard E. Lewis was charged Friday (March 16) with animal theft after admitting he was a bovine burglar.

Lewis took the placid beasts from High View Farm in Tiverton, Rhode Island, because he claims farmer Arthur Smith owed him animal feed.

Umm…WHAT? If there is discrepancy over a debt, you don’t go ahead and do the MOST difficult thing ever aka transport 18 cows across state lines without telling anyone…and then admit to it a day later!

Plus, it can't have been enough animal feed to justify 18 cows…those calculations seem a little off.

Now the cows are stuck under quarantine in CT due to laws that require all livestock that cross state borders to be tested for certain diseases.

Once the creatures are deemed healthy, they will be safely returned to their Rhode Island homestead.

EXTREME! We think a phone call would have sufficed…but perhaps that trail had already been blazed?? We like to think so!

Ch-ch-check out the crazy cow story (above)!!

Kristin Chenoweth: My Dog Reminds Me Of What's Important

This is why we can never stop loving Kristin Chenoweth!

During a recent interview about the animal charity she founded called Maddie’s Corner.

The charity works to help animals in a number of fab ways, including funding spays, shots and adoptions for shelter pets. You can find Maddie’s Corner in her hometowns of Tulsa, El Lay and in NYC.

She says credits her rural upbringing for her obsession for the furry and feathered. She said:

"I grew up in Oklahoma around a lot of animals, and a lot of my relatives are farmers and ranchers. I have a lot of respect for all kinds and what they can bring to our lives."

Howeves, being a city gal hasn't changed her love one bit - just her pets! The actress reveals,

"I finally became one of those New Yorkers that got a little white fluffy dog. I never thought that she’d take over my life, but she’s given me such joy and she’s made me so happy. I love show business, but this dog basically reminds me of what’s important."

AW!! We can totes relate!!

Chenoweth may be inspired by animals, but we are totally inspired by her caring spirt!

Science: 'Cows Have BFFs'

"Cows Have BFFs" - Science

Move over Milo and Otis!

The farm has some new best friends 4 Evsies.

Cows have best friends and become stressed if they are separated, according to research.

In the study cattle were penned on their own, with their best friend or with another cow they did not know for 30 minutes and their heart rates were measured at 15-second intervals.

The research showed cows were very social animals which often formed close bonds with friends in their herd.

Krista McLennan, who made the discovery while working on her PhD at Northampton University, said:

'If we can encourage farmers to keep an eye out for those cows which like to keep their friends with them, it could have some real benefits, such as improving their milk yields and reducing stress for the animals, which is very important for their welfare."

So it turns out happy cows do make happy cheese!

Question: when a cow gets dumped does her bff bring over ice cream? Somehow we don't think so.

Ke$ha Defends Her Butt Feather Love

Ke$ha's Defends Her Butt Feather Love

Wake up (after you brush your teeth with whisky) take some responsibility!!

Ke$ha can take FULL credit for becoming one of the leaders of the feather hair extension craze that have become as popular at salons as gossipy gay hairdressers - but she doesn't want everyone to peg her as the source for roosters that die after their plumage is plucked.

While stylists scour their nearest fish bait shops for these specific hard-to-find feathers (the long, skinny black-and-white striped feathers called "grizzly saddle"), farmers can't keep up with demand.

One farm harvests about 1,500 birds a week and can barely keep up with its current orders, boosting the price of the plumes (from the rooster's butt) up to nearly $500!

What's worse - the birds are killed before these feathers are removed.

Friday Ke$ha tried defending herself and her murderous feathery hair stuffs via twitter.

She said:

"I'm hearing about roosters that have been plucked and hurt or even killed for thier feathers…"

"I'd love to give u guys my own personal feather contact. she's totally animal friendly + recycles bones + feathers to make all my accessories."

"If u guys like feathers-try animal friendly pieces meet my friend Kate!"

Cat Adopts Baby Chicks

cat is mom to baby chicks

This seems a bit suspicious….

This cat's maternal clock is stronger than her predatory instincts.

Chinese farmer Lao Yang was worried when he first saw his cat, Niu Niu, with the chicks, saying:

"I came back home and found Niu Niu had got into the chicks' box and I thought she was going to eat them."

After the initial shock, Lao then added:

"I shouted at her and she froze. But then I realised that the chicks were climbing all over her and she was just playing with them. It's amazing. Niu Niu even embraces the chicks in her sleep, and they chirp as if they are under their mother's belly. Niu Niu seems to just love lying down with the chicks. She licks them clean and plays with them while they follow her everywhere."

Lao, of Suibing County, Heilongjiang Province, said he now leaves Niu Niu to look after the baby chicks while he goes out to work.

Let's just hope she isn't just fattening them up.
