Coming Soon: Luxury By H&M???

Here's two things we never thought would go together: H&M and luxury.

According to Sweden's Dagens Industri the fast fashion chain is working on more high-end line than their current COS or Collection of Style.

When asked if there was any truth to the report an H&M spokeswoman responded with neither a confirmation or a denial, only:

"We are constantly looking at new ideas; it’s a natural part of our work. However, there is nothing new that we can [talk] about for the moment."

In that case, to be continued…

Dolce & Gabbana Think Designer Collaborations Are Cheap

If you were hoping for a Dolce & Gabbana for H&M or Target collaboration, stop snorting that "hopium" because it ain't happenin'!

In an interview with Women's Wear Daily, Domenico Dolce turned up his nose at the very idea of it:

"Recently, it’s all “trusciume” [in Sicilian, cheap, trashy] — there’s no quality, these fast-fashion companies churning out looks. People thought it was cool, but it’s cheap. You can’t expect quality at 20 euros [$27]. It’s like good codfish at 5 euros [$6.70] — how can it be?"

Hey, they may be cheap but they also sell like hotcakes!

karl-lagerfeld-ready-to-wear-collection-in-the-works-for-macys.jpg

Remember when Karl Lagerfeld abruptly canceled his runway show to focus on a lower priced line?

According to industry sources, that lower priced line is for Macy's!!!

But before you get your non-couture panties in a wad, you're going to have to wait a couple of months.

Lagerfeld's first affordable ready-to-wear collection, that includes everything from jeans to gowns, will hit shelves for the fall of next year.

We have a feeling once it debuts it'll be Karl Khaos on 34th Street.

Fast Fashion Is Super Cheap

hm-and-forever-21-prices-hit-new-lows.jpg

Great news shoppers!

Pricing at fast fashion chains like H&M and Forever 21 have hit new lows.

How's that possible?

Retailers are getting more efficient when it comes to production, which means consumers can get the latest trends for cheap.

Pretty cool, especially with the holiday season right around the corner!

Tom Ford's Womenswear On Lock Down

wenn2749079_e.jpg

The fashion world is dying to get a glimpse of Tom Ford's highly anticipated womenswear collection — unfortunately we're all going to have to wait a little longer.

Tom explains:

This fashion immediacy thing — yes, if you can order the clothes immediately, if you can see them and press a button and they can be shipped to your house, I get fashion immediacy.…I don’t get the need for this immediacy. In fact, I think it’s bad.

The way the system works now, you see the clothes, within an hour or so they’re online, the world sees them. They don’t get to a store for six months. The next week, young celebrity girls are wearing them on red carpets. They’re in every magazine. The customer is bored with those clothes by the time they get to the store. They’re overexposed, you’re tired of them, they’ve lost their freshness, you see somebody wearing it…

In addition, all of the fast-fashion companies that do a great job, by the way, knock everything off. So it’s everywhere all over the streets in three months and by the time you get it to the store, what’s the point?

That means there won't be any full-look photos or complete run-of-show anywhere on the Internet, magazine coverage is on hold until January, and celebrities won't be able to wear them for events until December.

Seems harsh, but it's probably a great business move. We just hope it's worth the wait!
