The competition was FIERCE, but we kinda always knew that Argo would be taking the biggest award of the night… the Oscar for Best Picture!!

Ch-ch-check out the video (above) to see Jack Nicholson and Michelle Obama team up — never thought we'd say that — to give Ben Affleck, George Clooney, and Grant Heslov their hard-earned trophies!

Seriously, with a list like Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Misérables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty, the choices were neck-and-neck!!

So happy for everyone involved!!

Check Out The Trailer For Tim Burton's Frankenweenie!

Dead dogs aren't cool. Unless they are animated and directed by Tim Burton, of course!

The moviemaker's newest feature is a Nightmare Before Christmas-esque family film about a boy who brings his dead dog back to life with a science kit and it's called Frankenweenie.

Awwww….ew? In true Tim Burton style, it looks as creepy as it does heartwarming.

Check out the trailer above and let's all be thankful that Vivid didn't think of this title first, then hire Ron Jeremy to star in it.

Do U think Frankenweenie looks good?

Break-Up Alert! Nicky Hilton And David Katzenberg!

Nicky David Break Up

Oh no! Say it aint so!

The sweet couple, Nicky Hilton and David Katzenberg, are no more!

After four years of love and on-the-dl affection, reports are revealing the two have gone their separate ways due to their busy schedules.

Nicky is working hard to promote her jewelry line in Asia while David is focused on making feature films.

According to a close friend, no scandal or third person is involved, and they still remain close friends as they have been since their teens.

Sigh, Oh well! We're glad you two can still be amicable!

Ben Affleck Will NOT Be Joining Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby

ben affleck wont be joining the great gatsby

Too bad.

Earlier this month, we were excited to learn that Ben Affleck was in talks to play Tom Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming feature film adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

We thought he'd be PERFECT for the part, which is why we're disappointed to announce that he won't be joining the film.

Due to scheduling conflicts with Affleck's upcoming directorial effort, Argo, it won't be possible for him to do both films.

A new Buchanan hasn't been chosen yet, but it looks like Luhrmann might recruit Australian actors for some roles, so perhaps Affleck will be replaced with an actor from the land down under.

We just hope they make a good choice. Ben Affleck would have definitely been a great fit for that role…

Who do U think would make a good Tom Buchanan?

It's Here! New Sweet Valley Book Released!

Filed under: Film FlickersEtc.Business BlitzDiablo Cody

new sweet valley book released

Back in July, we were excited to report that Sweet Valley High author Francine Pascal was coming out with a new line of books about Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield from the SVH book series.

Now, her new book Sweet Valley Confidential has been released, and everything in this book takes place 10 years after Jessica and Elizabeth's high school days.

As we said back in July, we don't want to give too much away, but we'll tell you that one of the girls DOESN'T live in Sweet Valley anymore AND they are NOT on good terms!

Here's what author Francine had to say about the revisited book series:

"This is the first time in history that a kids' book has made the leap into adulthood. And it's a very difficult thing because the people who used to read the books are people of importance, they're grown adults, and they have a certain ownership of 'Sweet Valley' because it was their adolescence. With the new book I hoped not to outrage them and I don't think I have. But I think I have surprised them in a lot of ways and I hope I have touched them."

Pret-ty inneresting stuff. And for those of you out there who aren't sold on revisiting Sweet Valley in book form, Diablo Cody will be bringing back Sweet Valley High, but this time as a feature film!

Sorry, Baby-Sitters Club fans! We wish we had something exciting to tell you guys too!

…At the very least, a blu-ray release of the 1995 BSC film can't be THAT far off….can it?

Are U pumped to return to Sweet Valley in book and/or film form???

Janet Jackson Getting Her Producer On! Signs Deal With Lionsgate

janet jackson signs production deal with lionsgate

After starring in three Tyler Perry films for Lionsgate, Janet Jackson seems to have proved herself to the company…so much so that they've signed a production deal with her.

That's right, folks! Janet Jackson has signed a deal "to select, develop and produce a feature film" for Lionsgate.

Here's what she had to say about it:

“Many people forget I started out as an actor. I have been fortunate to work in the film industry, though not as much as I would like. I have a passion for storytelling, and have been doing it through my music for some time.”

Here's what Lionsgate president of motion picture production and development Mike Paseornek had to say about Janet:

“She is a powerful on-screen presence, with a vast audience, and we believe she will be an equally powerful presence behind the scenes. We are honored to be able to provide a home for her ideas, passion and immense talent.”

Congratulations, Janet! We're proud of you, and we'll look forward to seeing what film project you choose to put together for Lionsgate.

Do U think Janet will make a good movie producer?
