In France, eight Femen activists undressed and went topless in support of Pope Benedict XVI's resignation (above) — jumping restricted areas and ringing iconic bells.
The Pope wasn't the only reason they did this, though, as they claim it was also in support of gay marriage, but then security showed up and escorted the women out of the cathedral. Womp.
Their bodies were painted with slogans such as 'Pope no more' and 'Bye bye Benoit.' They described themselves as "provocateurs," which must be French for "topless bell-ringers!" LOLz!
We're glad nobody was hurt, and we can definitely see the reason behind wanting to stand up for same-sex marriage, but we also wonder why it's so volatile when it's supposed to be in celebration of the Pope stepping down! Doesn't seem like a celebration to us!
We bet tourists were shocked! They got waaaaaay more than they thought they would during their visit! Ha!
